He said he doesn't have power like Hearns. He is correct, Pryor even P4P, isn't remotely comparable to Hearns. Pryor's never fought a top 10 welterweight in his life so we don't know how his power would go a division up. Virtually everyone that has fought long term at a certain weight lost something power wise when they moved up. He wasn't a huge puncher at 140 and most certainly wouldn't be at 147.

The other thing is that Cuevas had a renowned chin.

Yea there is only one Hearns. Aaron probably would lose some power as he moved up. Pipino would take some shots no question he had a good chin. Pryor was relentless though. A combination of speed, volume and solid power would accumulate on a fighter like Cuevas who is there to be hit as well.
When I see Pryor, I see an absolutely great fighter. Not everybody agrees with that. We didn't get to see his career progress naturally.

Cuevas had shocking power. I'd hate to be a smaller guy trying him out. I'm not saying Pryor couldn't win, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Iḿ picking Cuevas and hopefully he gives Aaron a broken jaw and orbital bone.

Pryor has been dropped by much lesser fighters, his relentless attack will only leave him open to be hit with a good one by Cuevas. He is there to hit and be hit. Pryor is already a small framed fighter who has never fought at WW. And against a full fledged WW like Cuevas he will get hurt really badly.

Except Bobby Joe Young. He has good power but most of it has more to do with his accumulation of punches thrown at his opponents and wearing them down. His power is not going to carry him at WW.

Yes the next year or two post Arguello and drug free would have been interesting.

I think Pryor would do just fine until a point in time when he was really caught. He's by far the better fighter but the sheer power of Cuevas and the fact that he is the bigger man cancels that out to a large degree. I see Pryor leading and looking better up until the point in time where Cuevas stops him. If someone can last Pipino still carries his power late and is a threat all the way.

Actually he was a huge puncher at 140 considering he was really a blown up lightweight. The way he crushed Cervantes was absolutely.

Cervantes was 100 years old tho. I don't consider Pryor a "huge" puncher, not even close IMO sorry. He was never lauded that way. "Very good" would be as far as i could go and even that would be putting him in good company.

Ha, Ha. Cervantes better be careful, I hear Gerry Cooney is gunning for him, Cooney likes to battle old fossils to pad his record. Lol.

JT Cervantes was still a deadly fighter , dominant and Pryor didn't beat him like wearing out an old man he curt through him and destroyed him early and fresh .. ,, Aaron Pryor was a big time puncher ..

Cervantes was no longer a dominant fighter he struggled with Montilla previously and looked horrible.
