I would absolutely urinate myself laughing if Ruiz became undisputed..

I don't think Ruiz Jr is getting back to the top of the sport, but I think he's got the edge in this fight. Martin put down Ortiz twice during their fight with hard shots. OK, Martin is a somewhat better fighter than he was when he fought AJ in 2016 - but he's still pretty limited. I think Ortiz is dangerous for maybe 5 or 6 rounds against Andy and then he drowns. As long as Andy doesn't do something stupid and get clipped (like he did against Arreola) - he's probably got this one.

Whoa! Ortiz looks good and I hadn't realize the size difference till this photo. With the flaws both have shown recently this could be a barn burner with multiple knock downs and drama. Can't see either one outboxing the other for long without a big punch wobbling the other.

If Usyk beats Joshua as expected just watch Hearn go into over drive lobbying the sanctioning bodies to call in mandatories so there is no Undisputed fight between Usyk and Fury. However if Joshua where to beat Usyk he would be acting completely the opposite, just watch !

There’s no parallel universe or a timeline where Ruiz beats Usyk, none.

Arreola lost a fight for the vacant WBC belt 8 years ago AND lost to the WBC champ a few years later so it only makes sense that beating him qualifies you for a mandatory position.

Even more hilarious would be the ancient Cuban in his sixties whipping tubby then being the oldest fighter ever, by miles, to get a title shot. Please let it happen.

Your analysis is the way to look at this fight, I agree that if Ortiz clips Ruiz and drops him early he may well finish him. But as you say, if the bell rings for round 6 I like Ruiz's chances

Ruiz was just lucky that Joshuas brain wasn't functioning fully I doubt he could ever beat Joshua again even if Joshua is scared he could pick him off from the outside all day long

I could see certain circumstances occurring that would lead to Ruiz fighting Usyk for undisputed, sure. I posted about it just the other day in fact. Fury genuinely retiring and then Ruiz beating Wilder or whoever for the belt isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility. But Ruiz actually beating Usyk? You lost me there bud. Sure, anything can happen in boxing and stranger upsets have happened, but I don't rate that as being a high possibility at all. Also while it would be hilarious to have the first undisputed heavyweight fight in over twenty years be between two guys that are "only" 6'2 and 6'3 in an era where most top heavyweights are 6'5 and up, it would be a kind of disappointing match up for such an event.

I could see it leading to something pretty cool though. Maybe Fury then comes out of retirement and agrees to a fight with Usyk, and we now have a super event on our hands. One is the undisputed champion with all the belts, the other is the lineal champion, both undefeated, both with a proper claim to being THE heavyweight champion of this generation. Like Frazier-Ali, or Tyson-Spinks. Hopefully more like the former than the latter.

Usyk has now become very overrated. One win against the faint-hearted Joshua and people think he’s an ATG. He got a decision over Chisora because he was the big money A-side, but I thought Derek outworked him. Could Ruiz beat him? Sure. Nowadays though, thinking two fights ahead is pointless because it’s so hard to make ANY fight happen. If any of the top 5 heavyweights have more than five fights in the rest of their career, I’ll be shocked.

Usyk was an ATG before he fought Joshua. And most people had him beating Chisora 117-111.

People will see what you tell them to see. Ask the man, Muhammad Ali.

I wont argue if you call Usyk an ATG at cruiser. But three heavyweight fights won’t get you there. Michael Spinks would beat him.

Andy is going to have a hard time with Ortiz tho. Thats no walk in the park, but if he does win theres no way he could be Usyk.
