If you personally find Bernard Hopkins’s fights thrilling, put him down on your list… I won’t judge you (much). There’s no criteria other than an ordered list from 1-10 of who you think are the most exciting fighters ever.
No order Jack Dempsey Rocky Marciano Joe Louis Micky Walker Gene Fullmer Carman Basilio Joe Frazier George Foreman Mike Tyson Max Baer
Probably not exact and subject to change day by day but a decent template Frank Fletcher Azumah Nelson Jung Koo Chang Tony Lopez Rocky Lockridge Ricky Hatton (so sue me) Alexis Arguello Erik Morales Boza Edwards Bobby Chacon
Decided to do Top 15 because why not? Kevin Kelley Arturo Gatti Joichiro Tatsuyoshi Gaspar Ortega Junior Jones Israel Vazquez Orlando Salido Nigel Benn Meldrick Taylor Matthew Saad Muhammad Bobby Chacon Diego Corrales Danny Lopez Daniel Zaragoza Johnny Tapia
Sung Kil Moon 10 fights at random. Korean slippery dynamite. Wicked! Wait, read title wrong. Be back soon.
Fighting Harada Jung Koo Chang Yuh Myung Woo Sung Kil Moon Ruben Olivares Ricardo Lopez Alexis Arguello Jose Napoles Sugar Ray Robinson Jeff Fenech No order. Honourable mention for James Toney, Chris Eubank Snr and Carlos Zarate.
Thanks. I also added Israel Vazquez, Meldrick Taylor, Orlando Salido, Johnny Tapia to the list as well.
Not sure, I do think Dempsey, Marciano and Louis are the 3. Jack being number 1, even with the silent no sound film, I do enjoy the Dempsey Willard and Dempsey Carpentier are perhaps my favorite movie theater fight films seeing Jack at his best. The only bore on film is the Gibbons fight. Even the Tunney fights were fun to watch (8 rounds fight 1, and all ten rounds fight 2) Marciano is next because of his slugging and hitting style. His fights always seem action pack, with the Walcott, Charles and Moore fights as the most fun fights to watch action wise. Your always going to see a brawl on his part. Louis would be 3, but it has more to do with knockouts. When Louis is ready to land the ko punch, your going to see something great, like Johnny Paycheck or Braddock, or the comeback vs Conn. He has the best knockouts on film. Tyson would be 4 I think. Seeing him rampage in his prime was something. At his best, he was fun to watch, Micky Walker on the few fight films there is of him, was great, Middleweight king, Taking it to the heavyweights with a brawling style. Just wish there was more, but the few there are he is fun to watch. Fullmer and Basilio are both face first brawlers and their battles with Robinson are their top battles. Always fun to watch. I may put Basilio over Fullmer because he jump a bigger weight cap to be middleweight king, but there in your face style and pretty much out willing you is what made them fun to watch. Foreman in his prime was bombing almost everyone out. Norton and Frazier being his top fights. Seeing him drop people only for them to get up and get drop again. He had amazing power. Joe Fraizer vs Ali will always be Joe's most fun to watch, fights 1 and 3. But outside of that, you can see he almost took Jimmy Elli's head off with that left hook, crush Buster Mathis, and destory Bob Foster. Last would be Max Baer, he had power, but he always clown around in the ring. He was fun to watch. The Carnera fight, even his lost to Braddock, and the Louis fight. Baer also had some great knockout wins.
