George lands scary shots and surprises Holmes with his jab early on, but Larry jabs, holds, and tries enough right hands to win a UD. George ain't looking too great at the end, he gets staggered by a right in the 12th and most doubt he could have made 15.
Holmes beats Foreman for me. I think Foreman getting outboxed by Tommy Morrison was a clear indicator that even 40 something Holmes would win by a large margin.
I’d probably give Holmes the edge to take a close decision. I think Foreman was starting to lose some of snap by the mid 90s
I agree. In the early to mid 90's Holmes was beating Ray Mercer and was damn close to beating Oliver McCall. He could still move and would not stay in front of George. 12UD for Holmes.
Interesting one for me. Normally, I'd say that Holmes by this age had to lost too much mobility to beat a guy who he really needed to avoid getting hit by. However, here he's going up against a guy his own age, who had slowed even more with age than Holmes did. This fight ends one of two ways. Foreman by KO/TKO or Holmes by UD. The fight is his to lose, but Holmes is going to have to be careful here. He mixed it up a lot at mid-range when older, and standing in front of any version of Foreman is not the best idea. He's going to have to fight this one like he used to when he was younger. He's going to need to control his weight again, get back down to 220 or so, spend a lot of his training on getting as much of his former mobility back as possible. His concern here isn't training to outbox George -- there's no world in which George is outboxing him. His concern is not getting KOd or badly hurt. If he shows up fat again, he better hope George can't get past his jab.
