At the heavyweight division the fighters at world level are punching so hard, even the lighter hitters are punching hard. You can't just will your way through a shot like you can at say Lightweight. It's not a matter of pain tolerance or intestinal fortitude when a HW lands a flush powershot. You can't just mentally decide to stay up and ride it out. You go down. All there is to it.
This content is protected Wilder can throw his right hand straight and when he does he typically times it and will knock over anything that moves. Total laser punch, you cannot avoid it.
Ehh, I could see an argument for either one. Fury's never been knocked out and has shown a great ability to get up when he has been put down, but he's been down a few times and a couple of those times were against people he had no business being downed by and his overall resume is pretty flimsy. Lennox only ever went down twice and his resume is miles ahead of Fury's, but both times he went down lead to a stoppage loss, and like Fury, he had no business being put down by those guys. I think you can make a decent case for either. But as far as recovery skills go, it's Fury 100%.
Fury's chin without a doubt is better. For one thing, even when Fury got planted on his behind, he was never seriously hurt or wobbled. Hell, he was more embarrassed than anything else when USS Cunningham dropped him. Even when Wilder put him down and he was out for a couple of seconds, he was back to normal when he rose to his feet (his legs weren't gone). Now with Lewis, he has two KO losses where one he was out for the count and the other one, even if you argue it was a premature stoppage against McCall, his legs were not underneath him. Plus, people leave out Lewis getting rocked by Briggs and crack-addict Tony Tucker. I think Lewis is the better fighter but I think Fury's chin is better.
Lewis took some insane shots from Vitali though. He was simply caught in his two other fights perfectly.
