You realise Lee cross trained tons with Muay Thai guys Judo folk etc. He was educated enough to council Joe Lewis. I’m not saying it’s a 1-1 or that Lee would win but he had real training and sparred as often as he could find. Just to add Lee was 125lbs-ish in Enter the Dragon. Very small man.
He’d actually have made an amazing book on fitness if he cared to write one. Did he? Edit: He did. In 57 a bodybuilding and boxing book.
Nice, thanks - now that you mention it I do have a vague recollection of a book. Would be worth checking out
I read that when challenged (always some guy wanting to take him on), Lee could be quite savage - no holds barred, street style - not necessarily as pretty or as aesthetic as in the films…..whatever gets the job done, makes sense. Chuck Norris was a bit bigger but still, prob more in the realm of 5’8”’or so himself. Not to spoil if people haven’t seen it yet - but I don’t know why Tarantino portrayed Lee so negatively in ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. Lee seemed like a cool, charismatic and intelligent guy but I’m not really an expert on the man. Not sour grapes but I expected a lot more from that film. Disappointing imo, Tarantino dusting off a core concept he had previously used in an earlier film. All prior films that I’ve seen of Tarantino’s being so fresh and innovative otherwise.
Marciano by KO. Norris is allegedly 5'10" but is probably like 5'8" and 170. Rocky would be bigger compared to him, something we rarely see with Rocky. Norris looks better in his toupees than Rocky did though.
When I think of karate fighting, I think of kickboxing. And, when I think of kickboxing, I think of Norm Macdonald's quote: Kickboxing takes the elegance and grace of boxing and combines it with, uh, with kicking.
In fairness to Norris, he was also ex-military (air force police, stationed in Korea), which is where he learned Tang Soo Do. He had judo experience, too. Norris didn't really start out as a Hollywood type. He was one of the generation of veterans who learned martial arts in the military.
I posted a link to the Marciano book a while back where you can read the whole thing since that Book runs about 700$ lol.
But we have real life footage of Rocky Marciano beating BEARS in fights with little effort. How is Chuck Norris going to stand up to that monster?? This content is protected
