How Popular is Spence and Crawford when it comes to Casual Fans?

Manny is of a different era and Canelo has been promoted to the hilt. He is an exception, and as you well know it helps a fighter to get noticed if he is loud and controversial neither which applies to Crawford and Spence

 

This is a trade fight but it will do respectable numbers because Spence is a PPV draw.

 

It's not impossible to make these guys just as big as Mayweather. The promoters in the US aren't promoting the fighters they way they should. Some boxing fans think that it's the fighter's job to promote themselves but really it's the promoters job. I remember seeing commercials of Mayweather and him getting multiple interviews along with appearing on talk shows.

That's what current day fighters need. Arum and Haymon should be booking talk shows for their fighters, getting them put on commercials, going to schools to talk to children and etc. Promoters need to do more for their fighters if they want these guy's to be big names to ultimately be draws and crossover to the casual fans.

 

I doubt it will. Unless the fight is in Texas and even then It may only do 500k PPV numbers. Outside of the boxing community Spence and Crawford aren't crossover stars or known to the general public. One of the main reasons why the fight won't happen because both fighters want large purses and Showtime isn't confident the fight will make that much money in order to give them the money they want.

 

Is this fight gonna happen or not? It was being planned for October but no announcement yet? If they are still haggling over who is the A side than that is just pathetic and the fight will likely never happen.

 

Crawford needs to take a paycut and Spence needs to lower his purse demands. They have high purses for AJ and Canelo because both of them are bigger draws than Crawford and Spence combined. AJ has an entire country behind him in the UK and Canelo also has Mexico behind him. Both the UK and Mexico love boxing, unfortunately Americans interest in boxing isn't as high as it used to be, we'd rather watch Basketball, Football, or MMA.

 

500K PPV buys at the higher pricing points today will be bring in many millions for both guys. I think it could potentially do 600K PPV buys. Texas it come close to filling out Cowboys stadium but Crawford will never agree to the fight in Texas so it will be Vegas and I feel either T-Mobile Centre or MGM Grand Garden Arena will be sold out. Showtime know Spence generates money but have no confidence Bud holds up his end yet he wants mega bucks which no one else will pay him.

 

Nobody in the US knows who these guys are outside of their hometown, excluding hardcore boxing fans.

They are well known amongst casual boxing fans. Not sure how well-liked though.

Amongst the general public? No one knows who they are.

 

Ain't nobody trying to see them two slop buckets, Wilder and Fury. Thier run is over.

 

Spence is known in Dallas and maybe Texas overall. Neither is a star at all

 

Both guys want to get paid guarantees as if their fight can sell 1 million PPV buys.

In reality I’m sure 500k will happen but not without them taking reasonable guarantees.. Errol Spence is known more because he’s based in Texas but it’s not much to brag about.. Both guys want $15 million guaranteed but they should look into the $5-$7.5..
