I am too young to have watched the four kings. Out of curiosity, why isnt Wilfred Benítez part of the kings over hagler? He moved a lot like Duran, hearns, and leonard

The reason why Wilfred Benitez isn't in there is because Marvin Hagler is the only one of the four not to have fought him.

I'm thinking they didn't fight each other because of Benitez rankings at the time although others say he wanted no part of Benitez but I am personally inclined to believe Benitez probably just didn't get himself in to the right position at the right time? I am sure other posters can clarify it for you.

Cause Hagler was a lot better, that's why.

No argument there. Was just curious why he was added as the fourth despite staying at 160

Edit: changed typo of furious to curious

Wondered the same thing. Seems like Hagler was the most “distant” from the pack. Suppose it’s a matter of fight content, history ect. Wilfred only beat Duran, Hagler beat everyone in the group not named Leonard, well according to some folks, me included depending on the day of the week.

There is a documentary called The Fifth King with Iran Barkley who fought both Roberto Duran and Thomas Hearns. It's actually a really great watch but I think it would be fair to give Wilfred Benitez that title unofficially.

    O
I watched that on prime and really liked it. There's a book on Kindle unlimited about Benitez called the 5th king that's good

Woah there's an Iran doc on prime? Thanks for the heads up! I've always maintained he would have been a tough fight for sugar ray Leonard at MW.

Not saying Iran definitely wins, but I think he'd be immune to Leonard's flash and just maul him and make it a long night.

The answer to the OP is simple, the rest of the four all fought each other, but Benitez didn't fight Hagler, so.......

That would be a better name for those fighters, the Fab Four to me were The Beatles.

It should be the 5 kings if anything, everyone is writing well Benitez didn't fight Hagler. But that also means Hagler didn't fight Benitez.
And Benitez DID call our Hagler after his win against Duran. Which Hagler ignored.
Hagler had issues with slick stylists, and Benitez wouldn't allow his ego into getting him in a war with Hagler, unlike Hearns.
I'D like Benitez's chances against Hagler prime vs prime. TBH. Styles make fights.
Benitez is very underrated and overlooked by most on this site.

The other fighters also moved weight classes and maintained greatness. Hagler is one of two GOATS of MW but never moved

Moving up in weight isn't what being part of that exclusive little club was about though. All four of them fought each other, that was the basis of it.
