He wasn’t as much of a threat to fury in the second fight. Funny how his better performances against him came when fury was a Ruiz JR impersonating blob.

Wilder's trilogy against Fury consisted of three one-sided losses. Amazing how this is lauded as something for the ages. And he straight packed it in against Fury in the second fight. The fear in his eyes was palpable. Kudos on his performance in the third though. He genuinely tried his hardest in that one, and redeemed his quitjob in the second.

Although it is true that from any objective measure that Wilder lost all three, to argue that it was "three one-sided losses" and that he "packed it in against Fury in the second" is laughable. You have over 10,000 on a boxing forum and this is your assessment.

2018 - outboxed but put Fury down twice and almost out if not for one second.

2020 - the only one sided bout in the trilogy. Fury came in with the perfect game plan and like Fury does, showed his versatility in a way in which not many people had thought possible. Wilder, despite being battered, lost via towel. How is that packing it in? He was absolutely fuming about that. Look at the aftermath. Many would have given up. He didn't. Surely if a person thought that Wilder packed it in (can't imagine that there would have been many) that person would have almost no weight behind such a ludicrous argument following the third.

2021 - Fury down twice again (pretty much from one punch, was not cleanly struck for the second knockdown) and looked for a second that he wouldn't get up; in a world of hurt. He did not redeem a "quitjob" (how can a towel be thrown in be a quitjob?) Took another battering and did not give up. Referee called it off and Wilder was up on his feet before 10 seconds. The man does not stay down. How he got back up to be guided to his corner, after being battered all over and clearly knackered, I don't know.

Wilder came out looking better after the three than he did before. A cherry pick gone wrong, and although he will regret not having been able to win, many fans will see him for what he is only now, and that is the most dangerous puncher in boxing who has no quit in him.

It was indeed a trilogy for the ages. There is nothing better than heavyweight boxing at championship level with a clash of styles and personalities. It was absolutely fantastic. All brought to us by Fury and Wilder; nothing has come close to that in years.

The 3rd fight is one of the greatest heavyweight fights seen and I agree that Wilder is an absolute warrior.

It'll go down as a great heavyweight trilogy, theres no question. Wilder's showing of heart, power, chin in the third fight alone has secured his place in history. These guys will forever be linked, they'll be talking about Fury Wilder in fifty years time when the next great trilogy comes around.

Wilder is an absolute warrior and the heavyweight division is a much better place with him involved. Showed 100000x more heart than Joshua did against Ruiz.

Yes. I don’t like him very much but he proved he belongs with the best. If only he or his handlers showed more balls to get in with the best on a regular basis but too many are bothered about cashing in on holding onto a belt. There is no shame in losing in good bouts.

The Fury Wilder fights are some of the most exciting heavyweight fights of the last few decades, no doubt about it.

Joshua Vs Klitschko was another, it was edge of seat stuff. But AJ's done nothing like it since. You can't compare Ruiz Jr Vs Joshua 2 to any of the Fury Wilder fights, and that's the unfortunate truth.

My assessment of the second fight isn't so much an assessment as a response to what one thinks happened at the end of the Joshua Ruiz fight. You think Joshua quit? Fine, then so did Wilder. You think Wilder showed huge heart taking a one sided battering and not going down? Then so did Joshua getting off the canvas four times and being stopped on his feet. Both men protested the decision. Both men were stopped by means other than those under their direct control. Both men went on to rematch the man that beat them directly after.

OK, but how does that negate anything I said?

    See above.

I already acknowledged that was a very gutsy performance, worthy of praise. It still wasn't really a very close fight. Barring the early knockdowns Wilder was getting beaten up again and never came close to replicating his success.

Weelll.... it was a memorable trilogy only because we were starved of actually good HW matches for years. Remember those crazy wars back in the 90s? Non-stop phonebooth action, rounds traded back and forth, fights going down to the wire? Were any of the fights in this trilogy comparable? I don't think they were. There was drama in places, I'll give them that, but is the third fight (the consensus best one) really rewatachable in the same way any of the Bowe Holyfield trilogy is rewatchable, or even a second-tier slugfest like Mercer vs Cooper?

Best HW trilogy of the past twenty years? Yeah, I agree with you there, but that's not saying much.
