This one will probably be best answered by the U.K fans he won the Southern Area Title knocking out Julius Francis, British and Commonwealth title and the vacant World Boxing Organisation Inter-Continental Heavyweight title beating an antiquated Joe Bugner.

I tend to think of him of at a similar level to Audrey Harrison , although Harrison had the decorated amateur career coming from Repton and winning Commonwealth and Olympic Gold Medals and as a professional winning the European Heavyweight title.

    Both men fought Julius Francis.

Scott Welch couldn't beat Brad Pitt so I'll go with Audley Harrison.

On a serious note I've only seen Scott Welch lose to Akinwande, so I can't really say much about him. I always wanted to see his fight vs James Oyeola I heard that was a good scrap.

But overall I'd say Harrison was a bit better than Welch, and would beat him in an actual fantasy match up.

I've seen Welch fight Oyelo or Francis I think for the Southern Area or British and Commonwealth titles and there were lots of cast members from The Bill sat ringside Lol and when he knocked out Joe Bugner a fight or two later but that's it.

Harrison didn't manage to win the British or Commonwealth titles which given his amateur pedigree and professional promotion you would be lead to believe he could have. I think your right between the two of them Harrison would probably edge it though.

Ah those were the days. Us Brits had the top notch Scott Welch, the late big bad James Oyebola, Michael Murray and Julius Francis. The Americans had the second rate Holyfield, Mercer, Foreman and Bowe! Great days.

Seriously , Welch was a tough no frills, not too many skills, hard punching fighter. Not world class but a solid good National level brawler…great entertainment value.

    “Audrey” haha!
Anyway…Harrison, hmm. For a while I thought we had a new Lennox Lewis on our hands, he had some good victories where he looked pretty handy.
But It didn’t take me long to realise he was more Denise Lewis than Lennox Lewis!

In his Lennox Lewis days, Harrison would beat Scott on points.
In his Denise Lewis days, Welch by 3rd TKO.

Yep. The real Denise couldn’t box like Lennox but she looked much better than him in a pair of shorts!
