Mayweather was a good inside fighter. This is a different type of animal Armstrong. Floyd can't live in there for 15 rounds. He would have to adopt a balance between moving and laying on the inside.
Hank isn't going anywhere. Mayweather would have to dig deep. His boxing skills are negated here.
Floyd would have to fight Armstrong off of him for 15 rounds. I agree the era and referee make a difference.

I agree Floyd is negated here, in a 15 round fight Floyd will have a difficult time hearing the judges cards as he doesn't possess the firepower to keep Homicide Hank off him. He'll have some slick moments avoiding Armstrong , occasionally looking good but Hank just wears him out over the distance

 

100% back Mayweather here. The five inch reach advantage is a big deal.

 

The matchup actually favors Armstrong, especially if it's old school rules with a lenient ref who allows inside fighting. Mayweather can't hurt him and would be uncomfortable fighting at such a breakneck speed every round. I think Armstrong would take a close decision in a heated match.

 

It's not if you can stay close enough to negate the reach advantage.

Floyd was the guy who was past his prime when the Pac fight occurred. Much to your dismay, Pacquiao was on Armstrong’s level.

Armstrong has more fluff on his resume than Floyd. I’ll give you that. McGregor would beat a lot of those guys.

McGregor has only had one fight where he lost decisively to old man Floyd. how would he beat some of the ATGs from the 30s or 40s?
