Lot of variables here. The glove issue is settled as is the number of rounds, but the referee and weight class are also key. If it's Joe Cortez or Kenny Bayless refereeing at welterweight I'm taking Floyd. If it's Smoger, Donovan Jr or Cappuccino refereeing at 140 or lower I'm taking Armstrong comfortably. Since we are using same day weigh in a welterweight showdown he would look like the Mayweather from the Corley through Gatti fights when he fought at 140lbs. On the whole, assuming a referee that is an average of the ones listed above and across most of their shared weight classes I'm taking Armstrong. The 15 rounds is another big factor hard to ignore favoring Armstrong. Yet another factor is unlike the torrid pace of fights Armstrong fought in the late 30's I'm assuming he's well rested going into this fight. And I can't ignore that Castillo and Maidana gave Floyd hell. The more I think about it, the harder it is to pick against Armstrong.
Oh was Castillo faster than Armstrong? This is a unique fighter in his own right. Mayweather would be so far out of his comfort zone, not saying he couldn't win but he would have to take more than were accustomed to seeing. Armstrong isn't going anywhere, nor will 1 or 2 potshots a round be enough to be competitive here. Not even going into the question of whether Floyd's hands could take the kind of wear and tear in a fight with Henry Armstrong.

LOL Armstrong went up to 160 and basically whipped the World Champion up there. Something Floyd never even attempted. Mayweather isn't a big Welterweight anyway. To all the other that need to dismiss Armstrong cause his films are in black and white, consider the only reason he didn't officially win the middleweight title was because that would have given him 4 championships at the Sametime. From Featherweight to middleweight 4 full divisions. Armstrong would have held 4 of the 8 belts in all of boxing. He was making a mockery of the sport that's why Garcia got a draw after Hank kicked his a$$. They would've had to change the name of the sport from Boxing to Henry Armstrong. Joe Louis ducked Hank.
This is h2h right? Mayweather outclassed Canelo who was likely bigger than Garcia given that he was rehydrating. And he did it while past prime.
Yeah, 183 fights in 13 years do that to you, but sure let's ignore Armstrong's almost 70 fight demolision of 3 divisions against ATGs, HoF's and world ranked fighters and focus at Mayweather beating Maidana at 37, I mean what an accomplishment, this sure proves Floyd's superiority. Sarcasm aside, he had similar troubles with glorified paper champ Castillo when he was 25 and still had legs. A clever use of pressure to close the distance and not fight at Floyd's preferred range is enough to seriously trouble him, just not enough to entirely beat him. When you add up Armstrong's nonstop aggresion, infighting skill and superhuman status gas tank, the latter having trouble would be an understatement. Look at Maidana swinging like a literal caveman against Floyd, the latter is so bothered by his lack of range that he can't even counterpunch and results to blocking and using head movement whenever he can and waits for the ref to save him. Do you seriously think that Armstrong, who beat one of the greatest fighters ever in Barney Ross like a little kid (A fighter with a better resume than Floyd in fact, but he fought in the 30's so he actually sucked) would do about as well as Pacquiao against Floyd ?
That was actually one of the fights I thought about before voting for Armstrong. Maidana was slower and sloppier than Armstrong and arguably won the 1st Mayweather fight.
Why dont you compare Armstrong's record to hof fighters to Mayweather's (+Canelo). I dont think you'll like the result. And Mayweather had plenty of wear and tear. He fought since a kid and had to go through a deep am career that Armstrong didn't.
