The UK public would lose zero sleep if he was never seen again in the UK. Paid millions and millions of UK pounds then delivered next to zero entertainment in the ring fight after fight.
I think it is extremely positive that Boxxer / Sky Sports and Frank Warren / BT Sport have entered into this 50 / 50 agreement where the first fight is broadcast live on BT Sport Box Office and a possible second fight is going to be shown on Sky Box Office. Going forward, it would be great if the boxing promoters would start working together to create attractive and watchable fights.
First thought was why isn’t this in London? Really not sure how many tickets it does in Manchester. Good fight though.
Apart from that it’s then highly likely that there will be a second fight. It’s rematchroom just under different promotion. I want to see fighters fighting different opponents not just the same fight over and over agin.
And he's claiming he's the A-side yet hasn't done anytime at world level! Comes across as a moron too.
Remember when Whyte had a rematch clause against Povetkin. He was already the WBC mandatory following the Rivas fight the year prior, and that was already stretching it beyond what many were willing to accept. But this?! Surely can't be true Edit: just saw the presser, it's true. Joyce said he's entitled to one because he's the A-side Though playing devils advocate. I guess it kills time whilst locking in the eventual winners position as the WBO mandatory. After all, they are going to be waiting in line until after WBA and IBF and hopefully undisputed. So I'd rather this fight twice than watch the winner take on some top 30 fighters in the interim who have been brought in to lose.
Funny that Shalom said that there needs to be new fights at heavyweight. Then he makes one with a rematch clause! LMAO.
I don't think this one can be laid at the door of Sky/Boxxer and Ben Shalom. It's a one way rematch clause in favour of Joyce. So the blame lies with the Queensberry fighter and his team. This content is protected From that interview with Joyce's manager, they have inserted a one way rematch clause for a fight with nothing officially on the line: It's not a WBO final eliminator. They have put in a request to make it for the WBO interim title. They are of the belief that being #1 would make them eventual WBO mandatory by default. They are protecting their investment. Basically, my original post could be updated slightly. Team Joyce unwilling to fight a step up opponent unless they can insert a one way rematch clause for their guy who has never fought anyone relevant in the division. I'm happy the fight is being made, but poor form from team Joyce...
