I thought it was some of bhops finest work. The back n forth between joe and his dad after round 11 is vintage bhop.
The Mike Tyson v Mitch Green street fight. Allowed? No? Ok fair enough. I’ll go for Tyson v Trevor Berbick. This is when the young Mike Tyson moved up into the big league by KOing WBC World champ Berbick to become the youngest ever World Heavyweight Champion.
George Foreman vs Ken Norton Sandy Saddler vs Willie Pep I Archie Moore vs Yvon Durelle I Also: Jersey Joe Walcott vs Ezzard Charles III, Ken Norton vs Larry Holmes, Primo Carnera vs Paolino Uzcudun (the footage often shows side view, and Primo looks absolutely mighty), Joe Frazier vs Muhammad Ali I, and Vitali Klitschko vs Shannon Briggs.
Napoles-Menetrey. Prob past his very best by now, but put on a flawless display of box/fighting, the frenchmen was a big strong solid WW not easily intimidated, and threatened to give Napoles a stern test, not to be, Jose fought perhaps his most controlled, patience , unhurried, fight for a long time, moving around with ballet like prowess, closing the distance , unloading short accurate hurtful punches, none with his full force it would appear, but enough to contain Menetery, to keep him off balance, unable to steady himself to throw his own shots. As with most of his later day fights, the ole champ didn't want to exert himself overly , just enough to keep the young pretender in his place. stay safe guys.
So out of Hopkins whole career, that's your favourite fight ? You'd rather watch that over Hopkins vs Trinidad, Hopkins vs Pavlik, Hopkins vs Lipsey, Hopkins vs Echols, Hopkins vs Tarver, Hopkins vs Johnson, I don't see how anyone could enjoy a messy/scrappy fight like Hopkins vs Calzaghe but to each their own.
I just thought it was a masterful performance. He nuetralized a beast in calzaghie with skill. Hopkins, whitaker, and crawford are 3 of my favorite fighters all time. I appreciate every fight of theirs.
