How good does the film have to be, do you think? Is Joe Louis's good enough, for example?

 

Depends if Armstrong breaks Mayweather defence which he definitely could do. However Mayweather could easily out smart Armstrong so I could go either way but personally I think I would edge it to Mayweather,

 

Louis had enough film to me. But obv when Primo and Baer are the best big guys you beat, it doesn’t say much about fighting Fury and Lewis.

 

Thanks. I'm curious about your standards for film quality as well, not just amount. I assume Johnson's film you'd consider too poor to judge from despite it being plentiful, for example.

Armstrong has become terribly underrated by many .. with his own speed, volume of punches, strength, power, chin and stamina he'd be a very challenging fight for even the best Floyd ..I say this feeling that at 130 and 135 Floyd was an incredible fighter with his speed, conditioning and overall talent ... like many fights, the conditions would matter .. ref, what he allows, ring size, glove size , bout distance .. toss up ..

 

Looing at the poll you are in small minority believing this is a toss op. It seems you are the one underrating Armstrong.

 

I am going off many years reading posts here and not one thread ... I am also not underrating Floyd because liking him is besides the point ... he was one of the all time greats and would have been a very difficult match up for any fighter below natural welters ..
