I think this is like Spence vs Crawford “the next generation - light.” meaning 50/50 with a 10% swing for your favorite fighter. i need to see them both fight better opponents before I can confidently “choose a side” to be honest. They both need to step up they’re competition. Why not against each other? hopefully it doesn’t get dragged out by promotional companies & networks. (Which it will)
When I see two highly skilled guys who can punch someone's lights out at similar stages of their careers like these two, I tend to favor the one who has been in the ring with better competition, which is Virgil. That said, not a super-confident pick.
Really need to see Ennis against a top 15 guy before I can judge. Both extremely talented and I rate both highly.
I believe Ennis is the better fighter. He has looked better against better. Actually, to clarify that, Ortiz has the best win (Hooker) but Ennis has more good wins and looked better doing it. Ortiz has a very nice defense, excellent power and seems to be pretty smart in the ring but the man is somewhat slow afoot. Boots takes out Ortiz in a slugfest.
Not the point, in general there’s only so much you can do against someone who’s just moving and trying to survive. Ortiz still looked great
Great fight, but i think Ennis takes it. Ortiz sometimes is a little too aggressive and leaves himself open for counters, hes a very good fighter but Ennis is not the guy you wanna do that with. One thing im sure of though is that someone is getting stopped.
