Good on him, so many fighters are wasting away their careers when their fit and ready to go and there's nothing to plan for.
Going forward, DAZN UK will only focus on major events and boxers who can attract subscriptions to the platform.
How does this work for a monthly subscription when it appears that any major events and boxers are on Box Office fella? Will the subscription disappear and be Box Office only?
The maths of this have been on here before. Excluding gate, sponsorship and other income, a number of subscribers around 200,000 will see DAZN gross about £20m a year. If they can't run the non-box-office cards they're promoting, with that money, then there's something wrong. It just seems a stretch that they can maintain that level of subscription with so few decent fights on.
Yes that is the point as cannot see many keeping subscriptions to watch Shandy Ryan type fights when the events of interest are Box Office.
Not only that, but as DAZN get weaker domestically, Sky/Boxxer get stronger. How many customers will think they aren't getting much value for money with DAZN on a monthly basis and just knock it on the head, as Sky will be the best place to watch domestic fighters?
I saw that interview with hearn where he mentioned they looking at fighters who will gain subscriptions. The problem with that is there isn't enough of these star fighters around who cross over and can move numbers. DAZN model now is big names for ppv fights so where are the monthly subs coming from when the domestic shows are so so weak. The model now is sign up social media fights for ppv and hope these viewers take the free month sub and don't cancel.
You are right. We should probably expect youtubers and various celebrities who will get the chance to become professional on the Matchroom / DAZN UK platform. I am cautiously guessing that Joe Cordina and Joshua Buatsi will both soon be gone from Matchroom. Both are skilled boxers, but they don't get any new customers in the DAZN store.
I have never been tempted by DAZN to date but would join if there was a regular schedule of good quality boxing (including all Box Office fights) for a monthly sub up to £9.99. Just don't feel I am missing anything special so far with plenty of boxing to watch on Sky Sports, BT Sports, Channel 5 and Boxnation.
I can easily follow your point, but isn't BoxNation just reruns ? On April 22th, they had live boxing last time (Nelson Boxing) and since then, as far as I know, there has been nothing to see, but I could be wrong. I dont have a BoxNation subs. any longer. Yes, think what Eddie Hearn promised to customers when he joined DAZN UK ? Not much of what he said 1 year ago was true. Shameful. When will Eddie "PPV is killing the sport of Boxing" Hearn announce new shows on DAZN UK ?
