Well, it looks like Fury is going to disappoint us all by pursuing a "trilogy" fight with Derrick Chisora.

He's tossed around a couple of other no-hopers in Thor and Ngannou as exhibitions. If he really wanted an exhibition quality fight, maybe they could just sanction them as boxing matches. I have some other suggestions if he wants an easy night's work:

Miller- Never would have had a chance and won't last four rounds now that he is off the PEDs. Technically and undefeated heavy, and I am sure Arum still has his number.

Haye- he wants the fight. It is a good, marketable name, and there is a time-honored tradition of digging up the dead for a last go around. Fight, silly as it is, sells itself.

Kabeyal- almost happened, promotional ties, and the guys has a win over Chisora.

Oscar Rivas- is also technically a WBC champ at "bridgerweight." Would be an easy fight to make, and Rivas is realistically a step down from Whyte.

Any of these would be an easy night's work, and some of them quite marketable. Which of them would you actually watch.

There will be no third bout with Chisora. I hereby unironically grant you authority to permaban me (should you so wish) if I am wrong — in the event that Fury-Chisora III is even signed, you need only say the word and I will be no more.

He shouldn't fight anyone but Usyk(-Joshua winner) next, and I firmly believe that is what will happen.

Whereas I will not pay to see Chisora or anyone else on my own crappy idea list, I do not believe they will be ready to make the Usyk fight (yup, it will be Usyk) by December. I see that as being a year off, and would have no problem with Fury fighting the Joyce fight that Arum wants.

I almost stated that Joyce would be the only acceptable cause of delay to Fury-Usyk, assuming he does as expected with Parker.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be ready, however. Eight months between bouts isn't too long a layoff, nor too short. Fury's been ticking over. I guess the prospect of making it for December depends on how swiftly they get together and negotiate, though it could quite feasibly end up being that Usyk needs more than four months to repair, regroup and go again.

Look how long it took them to make Joshua-Usyk II. The way only added like three weeks delay, and the rest was money. These things are just becoming too complicated with who has rights to what, who is going to pay the biggest site fee, who has the Covid restrictions, etc.

I hate it. But there is it. No way is this thing ready to go by December. They won't even have the fighter's purses agreed on.

    I am hoping December brings....

    Fury-Joyce
Usyk-WBA madatory (Dubois, Hunter or Helenius)

Then they can unify in May.

I figured the readiness you were referring to concerned perceived hesitancy at Fury's end rather than the business wranglings per se.

With that clarified, I concur, getting the deal ironed out in time for December could well be an issue.

I don't know that BT will want to pit Fury and Joyce against each other so soon, though. From an in-house perspective, while smoother to make, that one could stand to be built a little more, whereas Fury-Usyk is plenty ripe enough. Fury-Joyce as Fury's first assignment after unifying all the straps (with Joyce having built on a breakout win over Parker in the interim) would suit the network better, I'd guess.

I'd just expect the December date to go by the wayside and Fury-Usyk negotiations to continue into early 2023.

    Let's see.

I'm not very good at making lists, things like 'top 20 HW of all time', etc. But Tyson Fury, should he destroy both Joyce & Usyk (let's say both score career-defining, devastating KO's in their upcoming fights vs Joshua & Parker), then ends his career with a crushing KO over Joshua in a farewell fight....................he would figure to be rated somewhere in that top 20, agreed?

I wouldn't mind seeing Rivas. He's 6'0" so would put to test this theory some have that Fury struggles with small agile heavyweights. Also many claim he was hard done by in what was a close loss to Whyte. He dropped Whyte in the 9th, there was the UKAD rumour, and also the last minute change of gloves. That is Rivas' only loss...

Kabayel makes the most sense in terms of what I think we will actually get as he is also Top Rank and at #WBC15. Also he did beat Chisora, and whilst it wasn't a sparkling performance from either he looked comfortable doing so. Unfortunately I give him little chance against Fury.

Think Rivas is the best choice at this moment.

I'm just happy to see the people's champ back and super excited about him giving his adoring public an encore. I genuinely thought we'd seen the last of him. It's always a hoot with The Gypsy King. Whether you love him or pretend to hate him but secretly love him, it's always guaranteed entertainment.
