Tyson Fury has obviously proven that he is not a man of his word, and we can't take a single thing he says seriously. This is sad behavior for a supposed ATG. Great fighters of the past, even in their worst insults to their opponents, didn't lie to us repeatedly about their plans in the ring. They didn't follow this 'business speak' cookie cutter pattern like most of the top guys now, where every single word you say in public regarding plans for your career is carefully planned out by your team and taught to you, in order to maximize $$$$$. Top boxers today not only have to focus on training & fighting, but also on all this dumb crap they have to remember to say in public. This is one of the reasons why the past greats were greater. I think Tyson Fury is the best HW of his era (although Usyk may challenge that if he beats AJ again). Whatever comes out of his mouth about retirement, etc I couldn't care less, but if he beats the winner of OU/AJ, he's an ATG (I would be rooting for Usyk). Looking back on this post I feel like it's a bit of a rant ty for your patience
Just be thankfull that Fury has retired so Usyk can claim to have had an era before he also retires shortly.
It just kills me as a fight fan to see a fight of such historical significance go by the wayside, it's so important for HW history.
It has to be hard getting motivated to step into the ring and to get punched in the face and body when you are mid to late 30’s and have tens or even a hundred million in the bank. Old school fighters were usually broke or not far from it so they stayed hungry. They couldn’t afford to retire, at least most. I don’t blame modern day fighters for retiring after they’ve made millions.
What if Usyk beats Joshua again then ALSO retires, nobody knows how anything is going to play out until it actually happens
