So it was a pretty exciting series of fights that did good for heavyweight boxing.
But how do the fights match up with other classic bouts from the past?

Not very highly I personally think they're very overrated sloppy affairs, how Wilder vs Fury 3 won FOTY over Estrada vs Gonzalez 2 boggles the mind.

From a technical standpoint there is nothing of use to be gleamed from any of the three fights. Fury's heart was mythical but his I can't say that it improved my opinion of Fury's skills, if anything it did the opposite to see such a young champ with a physique that dominates the ring- squander it in the most important fights of his career *cough* Jess Williard?! *cough*. I said what I said. The difference between Williard and Fury, is that Fury didn't need to absorb the punishment from Wilder like he did and I really do believe that was his choice. Williard was in the ring with the Manassa Mauler and Williard was a mediocre fighter. Fury looked bad in those fights and survived more often on sheer will than ability.

Very entertaining trilogy in terms of excitement and drama. Lots of back and forth action, flush bombs landing, knockdowns, swelling, etc. Other than a few moments in the 1st fight where Fury displays good ring IQ and movement, it was a very sloppy and wild affair. Pretty funny since we're supposedly in one of the most evolved modern eras.

Holy v Bowe is still the GOAT trilogy, change my mind. (I have also not seen the Holy v Bowe trilogy)

Fury looked pretty good in the second fight.

    Better than:
    1. Patterson--Liston
    2. Patterson--Ingo
    3. Tyson--Holyfield
    4. Holyfield--Ruiz
    5. Holyfield--Moorer
    6. Ali--Liston

    Some other series are debatable

From an entertainment point of view it is up there with other heavyweight trilogies such as Bowe-Holyfield and Ali-Frazier. From a skill level point of view, both Wilder and Fury are gangly and sloppy so the bouts were definitely not aesthetically pleasing.

Fury would either beat those guys or be competitive though.

Wilder would probably beat Holyifeld from the third fight and would would win at least a couple fights if given three shots at Bowe and three shots at Frazier.

It was a high level trilogy in a h2h sense, not necessarily in terms of finesse.

Who would ever consider Patterson v Liston a great fight? All the fights on this list are significantly more skillful fights.

Also Frazier is all wrong for Fury lmao. Frazier would take years off of Fury's life.

What was sloppy and wild about Fury's performance in the second fight? He took the fight to Wilder while barely being hit with clean punches, he took more than twice as many in the first fight.

You don't understand the effect that Fury's leaning the wrestling would have on Frazier. I suggest first hand experience and not armchairing an opinion on what it's like to give up 1/3rd of your bodyweight to someone who can wrestle.

Don't care about the "skillful" category as you're using it to denigrate guys for being big who are very legit in the h2h sense.

First fight: one of the best rounds (12th) and most iconic moments (Fury rises virtually from the dead) in heavyweight history

Second fight: one of the most dominant elite level performances in heavyweight history, against a long-reigning champion

Third fight: instant classic, five knockdown thriller, one of the best wars in heavyweight championship history

It's up there with any of them.

lmao. ignorant. You really think Futch didn't anticipate that being a weakness of Frazier. How about you go back and watch Ali v Frazier 1 bud. Frazier spends the entire fight allow Ali to move him, this would be no different than with Fury. Frazier wouldn't resist, and wouldn't allow Fury to lean on him.

edit: this is a boxing forum not a gym quit taking **** so seriously. head ass old men on the forum cannot handle people with different opinions without taking it personally.
