Not only that, they're stopping him from rehydrating Someone mentioned it was less than the IBO rehydration sanctions which is 10 pounds. So most Eubank will weigh is 168 and be weakened massively from the cut and not rehydrating. Benn will be 170 and fully charged
Hearns told the truth once in an interview years ago, no idea what got into him and he’s never done it again since but I remember it clearly as it took me by surprise somewhat when asked about the difference between boxing managers and boxing promoters he said something along the lines of “well basically koogs it’s the managers job to maximise their fighter’s earnings, and it’s the promoters job to minimise them, because at the end of the day the fighter goes down as a cost on the show, do you understand what I’m saying to you?” these days he loves trotting out the narrative that it’s his job to maximise his fighters earnings.
Eubank Jr will weigh in at 158 on the scales at the weigh in. No problem there. It’s then his rehydration they are trying to mess with. Limiting how much he can weigh the morning of the fight. It’s not going to work and Eubank Jr is going to **** him up.
Whats the rehydration clause though? Is it 5lbs? 10lbs? Hearn says its at 11am on the day of the fight, does that then mean that Eubank can put as much weight as he wants on between 11am and ring walk?
CEJ fought at 168 pounds in the World Boxing Super Series at Super Middleweight and fit right in. Hes 3 weight classes bigger than the 147 pound Benn.
Does Eubank weigh anymore than 168 when he fights at 160? He said at the press conference he was only about 171 right now.
Not been made clear but the fact there is one shows they are trying to handicap him. In any event come fight time Junior is not one to rehydrate all that high so Team Benn have ducked up there as well.
Well yes, they are trying to "handicap" him, as Benn is coming up 2 divisions. This is an effort to make it a competitive fight. But yes, I don t think it will have. major impact, assuming its not some ridiculous rehydration clause.
He was a tiny SMW when he boxed there. The fact that he’s now in his 30s and can still make MW and is confident of going even lower shows he was never a true SMW.
I feel this a bad career move by Benn, CEJ is naturally bigger than him and it could backfire massively and ruin Benn like it ruined Brooks when he fought GGG. I think Benn is better skill wise but size matters.
Look at the size of him against groves. A big super middle weight wouldn’t be able to go back down in weight when they are in their 30s.
If thats true, its quite tight. If thats true, an what Hearn is saying is true, that means, he'l probably pit on about 6lbs after the 2nd day weigh in between the morning and the fight
One thing for sure is that Jr will be hit and hit often if it goes rounds. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he hurts CB bad with a counter lead hand coming in, early doors.
