Glad he is getting out now. A good career for a guy that was undersized for his division. One of the best left hooks in recent memory and a guy that always gave it his best. I hope he has taken care of his money.

He obviously had no future at 168. Great career tho. Had some explosive moments and always gave you his best.

Tragic what happened to his father.

As others have pointed out, he had a wicked left hook. Big heart, too (he absorbed immense punishment from GGG before the ref stepped in to stop it) Beyond that, he certainly had an amazing talent for somehow boiling down to 160 lbs for so many years - which was obviously difficult for him. I think he's smart to retire now - because things were never going to work out for him at LHW.

Huge fan of David for years, love every thing about his style, it's a pity it was due to a tragic circumstance like his father being killed. But it's been a long time coming, he's been stuck in the unenviable position of being too big to make Middleweight, but far too small to compete at Super Middleweight, so the only thing that awaited him was becoming a journeyman who could occasionally spring an upset here and there. So... good call on his part. Happy retirement Monsieur Lemieux.

He was a brave boxer. And never afraid of challenge and always ready to prove himself inside the ring.

My condolences to him and family for the tragic passing of his father. Hope he retires in peace and find happiness again.

Enjoy retirement champ. Win or lose the guy always entertained crowds with his fan friendly style. He was one of the hardest punching MWs and that always made for exciting KOs.

Completely agree & that reminds me of that time where i thought perhaps Spike Sullivan will be able to pull of a victory over him mostly due to how Lemieux looked in the Saunders fight, but instead he devastatingly knocked Spike out! good thing i didn't put any money that night,

With almost 50 fight's under him & him being only 33 it's a good time indeed.

Lemieux is a guy I can't say a single bad word about. Gave it his all, produced good entertainment, showed exceptional heart, and scored some awesome knockouts. Seems like a good family man, as well. All the best to him on his next chapter.

Thoroughly enjoyed his career even though early on you could see he would never be elite. He always came to scrap and had explosive power in his hooks. He could have easily *****ed out when golovkin hit him when he was down but he got right back up and continue fighting to save the event. RIP to his father
