Though I can’t confirm, I could guess Corbett’s ring entrances were meticulously choreographed to the fist pumping strains of Dame Nellie Melba or the like. Just imagine Corbett being lowered down into the ring in a cage to fight the Great John L. - the vision of same would’ve been enough to invert the Boston Strong Boy’s handle bar moustache!

Roy Jones coming out to "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" by Bone Thugs N Harmony and James Toney coming out to "Black Superman" By Above The Law. The golden age of Hip Hop right here in 1994. Both groups from Ruthless Records with Eazy-E as their executive producer. Eric "Eazy-E" Wright would die a few months later. My senior year in high school. A great time to be alive!!!

Hi Richard. Without googling I think that Ken Boothe's version of Everything I Own was top of the British charts when Muhammad beat George Foreman. In the U.S.A. it was Then Came You by Dionne Warwick & The Spinners.

    Good thread.

The Greatest Love of All - written and recorded for the move The Greatest, 1977. Sung by George Benson - about 9 years before Whitney’s version.

When Mike Tyson clobbered Trevor Berbick to become the WBC World Heavyweight champion, Take My Breath Away by Berlin was the no1 single here in the UK.
A very apt song because Tyson was taking everyone’s breath away back then, not least poor Trevor’s during that fight!

I screwed up - I meant to link the ONE HIT TO THE BODY version with boxing clips, there, much better.

Trivia: Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin played the solo on this track - but he got so wasted with Mick and the boys while recording he couldn’t remember his contribution to the song or even what song he played on. LOL.

Ah, the old Top Gun tune. Cool song. My favourite Berlin tune however was a song called Sex released 3 years earlier in 83.

Totally different sound to “Take my…”,god I miss the 80s. This can be Larry Holmes’ and Timmy Witherspoon’s song, for their fight in the same year. Haha

What a naughty song. But it has me more in mind of the Lewis-Akinwande hug-fest in 1997! Shame it wasn’t re-released in time for their love-in!

Cool song, eh? LOL, yes, very apt tune for Lewis-Ackinwande. Amazing that an actual child wasn’t borne (born) out of that union.
