A little too much for SRR, I'm afraid. He'd win a few round s but Moore is deadly and nails him down. I see Archie stopping him in around 12.
If Archie Moore could not defeat Charley Burley and Eddie Booker at the end of his middleweight career, I feel it is unlikely he could defeat Sugar Ray Robinson.
Archie became the Mongoose we all know and (most of us) revere at light heavyweight. He had a good campaign at 160 but not on par with Ray Robinson. Sugar by decision over 15 but it would have been a clinic to watch it. Two masters playing 4D chess.
I wasn't trying to make a point for either side, just trying to refresh my memory on what point in his career Archie almost died. For the record I think Ray's feet likely win him the fight on the outside. And if Archie Moore could ever be called "Green" it was certainly at 160.
