Yes, Norton could've avoided getting smashed on the chin...

Norton and Ali both make a wish at the same time and switch bodies, it may take some convincing to make people believe that Nortons soul is actually in Ali's body, but they eventually do. Norton still fights like Norton but now has Ali's chin. After the fight both Norton and Ali wish at the same time to switch back and they do.

So no nothing he could of done outside of an entertaining B movie plot.

I was thinking a lead pipe, but best to have backup.

You know what's funny when you watch Norton sparring vs Frazier, he has a very different style to his actual fights. He doesn't use the cross arm defence, uses lateral movement, and has a much more classical boxing style.

If somehow Norton could replicate his sparring style into an actual fight, he might of lasted longer against Foreman. Not that it would of made much of difference regarding Norton's chances of winning though, more like delaying the inevitable.

Well originally, I think the training camp was designed to drag Foreman into deep waters where Norton's superior stamina would give him the advantage. Unfortunately, Norton's bad habits of freezing when he gets nailed by a powerful shot and being unable to fight backing up derailed those plans.

So I guess if Norton were to somehow succeed without drastically changing his style, trainers, etc would be to try and outbox Foreman at mid range, going to the body, never staying in one place for more than half a second. Avoid the ropes like they're covered in lava. Complain to the ref whenever Foreman shoves/grapples so he can't just push Norton back and has to engage. Try to outjab the big guy. Clinch for dear life when hurt, f*** the points because the goal here is to tire Foreman out so it doesn't matter if he looks bad early losing points for holding. If he can keep that up while pot-shotting, countering, and having tight responsible defense he has a very, very slim chance. Problem is, all it would take is one bomb for Norton to revert to his old habits and get stopped.

Invoke Sonny Liston's spirit in some sort of ritual, perhaps?

He could’ve just been a better boxer. Plain and simple. Chin or not it’s irrelevant if he can’t hit you.

Norton would have to use a more conventional stance, also definitely don't crouch or bobb into Foreman's wheelhouse. Down low is where George was most devastating. With a normal stance Kenny could have backed up at an angle. As it was Norton couldn't fight effectively backing up.
Kenny would need to do whatever he could to get the bout past 5 rounds.

Interesting though Ali couldn't catch hin clean much but Foreman did. I think it was a matter of his stance and defensive style. Crouching in front of Foreman was a death wish.

I've never thought that Ken had a weak chin,it was as solid as most fighters' whiskers - not as iron clad as an Ali or a Hagler but reliable enough in itself. His Achilles Heel was that his style - which gave master boxers such as Ali,Holmes etc. major problems - could n't handle big bangers who could move him back. Being stopped by murderous punchers such as Shavers,Cooney and Foreman (especially Foreman) does n't mean that you have a glass jaw. And the loss to Jose Luis Garcia came when Ken was still green. In fact, the only stoppage that he suffered while he was prime was against Foreman.

He would have had to employ a lot of lateral movement to have had any chance at all in Caracas. A big ask.
