If you take a step back, you said one guy had a better record than another because he was undefeated. I already showed you another undefeated fighter whose record was better based on his absolute dominance in the ring. Ward retired at 33 with 32 fights. Are you saying a guy who was just 5 years younger with 5 less fights doesn’t qualify? Valero fought more frequently in 8 years than Ward did in 13. Wards career isn’t the benchmark of what makes a great record. Odd how one guy doesn’t get the respect he deserves for his record because he died, but this other guy does because he retired in his prime.

No you mistake my point. That was the interpretation the other gentleman put on what I actually said. Ward’s career, his fights and level of competition in the 33 fights answered all and any questions we have. Valero was not finished in my view so can’t help but feel his death denied us.

Lance that is a matter of opinion. Many people on ESB have an irrational hatred of Ward but any honest and sincere appraisal shows he is an ATG. He fought and beat everybody before he retired. His ring IQ was outstanding which is why I sometimes found Pacquiao lacking though it did improve under Roach. Many are not rational about Pacquiao because he was both a highly popular and iconic fighter. One thing about Ward is he could really fight.

No it isn't Olu. There's NOTHING Ward has done that equals, and especially surpasses Pac. NOTHING. You can rank Ward higher, but you are pretty much the minority on that. NO ONE would seriously rank Ward higher than Pac. And that's nothing to do with opinion, but resume and accomplishments.

 

Not really. I'd say only Froch and Kessler were big wins. His win over Dawson, good in name only. Dawson screwed the pooch moving down. And a controversial wins over Kov... His resume is quite thin for someone you all praise so highly.
