Suppose you’ll just enjoy being away somewhere new we’re ever it is. I always think it looks like a posh Benidorm, without the ale, or the fun, and sticky Vicky would receive fifty lashes
I was in Dubai for a long weekend 4 years ago. Suspected it was like what you say but wanted to see for myself. Someone in front of me in the airport got taken away for drinking water in public, since it was Ramadan, and once you realise you have to do what you're told then you get careful and start to enjoy it. I found places to get a pint safely, ate within Ramadan hours no problem, and really enjoyed it. They also allowed a tour of their poorer bits of town and didn't hide that it needed improvements for immigrant workers and so on. The only time I got near some bother was standing on a tram in the wrong area - reserved for women and children I think, and I'd misread the sign - but a local grabbed my arm as soon as they noticed and I quickly moved.
hi mate, i Live in Dubai, been here 12 years, its nothing like what you read in the Daily Mail, its not perfect, nowhere is, but its a decent place to live, very safe and nowhere near as prohibitive as you would read about. Saudi is a different matter, up to about 5 years ago it was very conservative, however that is changing quickly, i went there for joshua fight and the changes are massive from even a few years ago, its marketing itself as the next dubai, will take a while i think
Of course, mate id make the best of anywhere new like. My missus was there for few days between flights to Australia like, and although she made the most of it, wouldnt be somewhere shed choose to go back, she just found the place a bit strange.
