Canelo copied Dempsey’s style?

If you watch Canelo you quickly realise he very rarely jabs. Nearly every punch Canelo throws is a power shot very much like how Dempsey used to fight. Both fighters had crazy tanks but Dempsey clearly perfected the style whilst Canelo didn’t. The imperfections in Canelo’s style were demonstrated in the Bivol fight. Canelo gassed out in that one and he couldn’t overcome the height and reach gap the way Dempsey overcame the gap against Willard.

So do you guys think Canelo took inspiration from Dempsey? And if he did how can he improve on the style for the fight with GGG?

No, Simply no. The bones are there but those bones are in a lot of aggressive boxers. The presentation however... I'd add that Canelo given his era and what I have watched is simply not as good an inside fighter.

Lots of fighters don't use the jab, or at least don't use it well. It doesn't make them Dempsey.

    He's more like James Toney.
