Why didn’t AJ invest in the body more?

IMO, if he went for the body more instead of head hunting, he could have possibly been victorious. Usyk didn’t like ANY of those body shots...

In fact he DID invest to the body. He had Usyk hurt in the 9th with at least 4 big body shots. His best round out of the 24 rounds that they fought. Usyk clinched and was visibly affected. The problem for AJ is that he didn't take advantage of the work and let Usyk pound his ass around the ring in the next round.

Not true, you clearly seen him trying to invest in the white man's bread basket

He was constantly going to the body the whole fight, he'd land a solid shot and then Usyk would reply with 3. The story of the whole fight.

He did plenty of investment to the body. He seemed to think if he landed a body shot, Usyk would just fold over and die. As the fight wore on and fatigue settled in, Usyk adjusted and made AJ pay.
AJ made a decent showing (aside from his post fight melt down). Usyk is just a better boxer.

Joshua did invest to the body, infact that was pretty much his whole offence. The problem was is that you leave yourself more open, and when Usyk pounded Joshua in the 10th round, and took away all of Joshua's momentum he had in 9th round. Joshua mentally checked out at that point and realized he could be KO, so decided to just go the 12 rounds.

Yes he did but too late!

For the first like 6-7 rounds he didn't change jack compared to the first fight except some straight body punches from lowered position which weren't doing jack too!

I don't even know how it happened because Usyk is of one of my favourite fighters (I guess because people put him down so harshly before the fight) but I got emotional during the fight screaming at my phone "go to the body! Throw the left hook! Follow up you moron!". He just wouldn't. I believe it's not like he couldn't.

And Joshua didn't like the punches had had to take in return when he got close enough to work the body. That's why he stopped...

Yeah, and when he did have success with going to the body (and Usyk seemed to be troubled) AJ got so disturbed by Usyk not going down that he instead of keeping it up resorted to blatant hammer punches, excessive leaning and to finish of the fight: a clear kidney punch in the back. He tried every cheap trick he knew to get rid of Usyk.

My guess is that he doesn't have the mental strength to carry out a game plan agains a live opponent through 12 rounds.

But to be fair, he isn't really a 12 round fighter.

He did pretty good for his level. I would say his prime at skill, ring IQ and stamina. but it was just not enough

I really think if he tries again, after Usyk retires, he can get some of the belts back. But will he ever be the same ? that's the question
