Usyk would be bigger than Holmes, Ali, Frazier, Liston, Patterson, Johansson, Marciano, Charles, Louis, Scmeling, Sharkey, Walcott, Marciano, Johnson, Jeffries, Corbett etc. when they were champions. Where you can find an occasional weight around the same he was still taller. Just facts.
Because people put him in top 5 rankings and he couldn't put together a title reign or win fights that went the distance. And he beat a single ranked fighter in his comeback.
This still says absolutely nothing about 5'11 Orthodox pressure fighters chances in today's HW division.
He is a Holmes sized fighter, basically. people who write off Holmes as too small are rare\stoopid and were before Usyk was thought of.
Until we see a photo of the two together I am going to assume Usyk is a smaller man than Larry Holmes. stats simply cannot be trusted. Going by some tale of the tapes Holyfield was supposed to be the same size as Larry. He just wasn’t. There are many such examples.
Yeah, well that’s the natural bias for you, so of course you are. Usyk is not a small heavy in any pre-Lewis era.
Usyk is a classic sized heavyweight in the traditional sense. Above light heavy and below Superheavyweight. when what you call “the post Lewis sized era”came along it was less an “era” and more the birth of a new division.

Yeah, cruiserweight. But that is not relevant. The thread is about what the usyk victory means for something called the “size maxis”. And the answer is the same as the victory of the other well-conditioned 220lb heavies - if you want to wriggle past Holmes, go for Ali, Jeffries, Liston, whoever.
Yeah, the majority of posters absolutely will not be able to absorb that he’s turning pro at cruiser or below now. No way to get it in, I’ve basically given up.

As usual, people exaggarate to make the point. Usyk isn't a small HW, but he isn't "large" by any standards either. Jess Willard was large in the 1910s or Carnera in the 1930s, Usyk wouldn't be seen as some kind of giant in these eras. He would have considerable size advantage over most HWs, but he wouldn't be large. As usual, everything to make the point. Even if it doesn't mean using any logic.
I'll sleep like a baby tonight with full knowledge that "size maxis" are not in shambles, because they do not actually exist and are just a figment of the imagination of some nerd on the internet. Seeing an American throw around the word "shambles" is also bizarre. It's as if he's unironically absorbing British speech by spending too much time discussing boxing on the internet.
