Young was a talented guy- he could acually hide in the ring and was a defensive wizard - that being said Wilder is a big hard hitting guy with some good speed and range. Young threw punches sporatically in bunches but he would have to get into range and avoid the danger - interesting fight - look at the Cooney fight-Young was past it but it would give you and better idea of the differcult task of Wilder IMO but if Young got into a Fury type hit and make miss fight he would be troublesome- Young was also a 15 round guy

Everyone assumes since Ali was able to tire Foreman, EVERY heavy weight fighter could do it. Foreman prior to Ali didn't have any serious endurance issues. Ali defeated Foreman in his most vulnerable place. His mind, he enraged Foreman to a point of fighting completely undisciplined and he spent himself completely within 5rds. But that was Ali. Their was only one Ali.

Jimmy Young could avoid the telegraphed punches of Wilder in his sleep. Young would win a unanimous dec over the amateurish Wilder, and it wouldn't be close.

I now believe he could, really do. If anyone could out slick a guy like Wilder, it's Young.

It is quite feasible that Young shuts out Wilder over the distance providing Deonatay does n't catch Jimmy full on with his Sunday best. That right hand of his is dangerous from first bell to last.

Too right,Fergy! Young was one of the best boxers of the 1970s. I rate him number six in my top 10 for that decade.

Wanna hear a funny insult? Jimmy Young beats AJ and Wilder, he beat the overrated Foreman too and his clone Lyle. Jimmy Young is also not a great fighter unless your a fan of Foreman. This is coming from his actual great nephew.

Foreman fight aside, which I consider a rather circumstantial though impressive win, Jimmy outperformed Ron Lyle twice and gave Norton fits. Granted, he did have trouble with Shavers, but at his best, he probably has what it takes to clown Wilder till the final bell rings. Whether judges appreciate it depends on the location.

Certainly wasn't everyone's cup of tea Stevie, but when he was at his best he made the other guy look crap.
Nearly beating Ali and Norton to some degree, can't be bad.

Circumstances unique to Foreman? He got his head punched in by Jimmy Young in the prime of his life. Young is an example of why the 70s are overrated the fact he could’ve beat Norton and that he absolutely clowned Foreman is an illustration of the cult mentality. Jimmy is my great uncle and he said the 70s were overrated, he said Tyson would’ve killed his era and that the best guys lacked the fundamentals and just got by.

Very true. Jimmy was a defensive stylist to those of us who appreciated him.

Jimmy Young didn't "toy" with Clay Hodges, "Tiger" Williams, Randy Neumann, Earnie Shavers, Billy Aird, Ossie Ocasio, Pat Cuillo, Gerry Cooney, Phil Brown, Tony Fulilangi, Chuck Gardner, Eddie Richardson or Tim "Doc" Anderson ... he didn't beat any of them.

George Foreman wasn't hallucinating and seeing himself crucified on the cross and having visions of going to hell because of Jimmy Young's punches. Foreman was severely dehydrated. He was hospitalized for a couple days after that because he was so dehydrated.

It's like bragging that Joey Maxim "clowned" Sugar Ray Robinson.

    Complete nonsense.

But wasn't 70s Foreman almost by definition a dehydrated Foreman? I don't think Young was the only fight he fought dehydrated, was he?
