Another edited post, this time with the sorriest excuse for illiteracy I have ever come across. I genuinely laughed at that. So bad. What was it Mark Twain said about idiots? I think I’ll heed his advice.

 

I never mentioned auto correct, I said I wrote how I speak. If people around you say "would of" as a form of the present perfect tense. Then it becomes accepted usage within those language communities.

I.e. "of" becomes synonymous with "have" when forming the present perfect. It's not that difficult. The selection of have is ultimately arbitrary.

Nothing to do with literacy. Now if I didn't understand that in standard English the usage is has/have + p.p. you might have a point. But evidently I do, so you don't.

If anything my knowledge of this and the ability to adapt demonstrates my literacy is higher than your own.

If you are suitably finished with your strawman...Your point about Fury's resume being on the level of Lewis still holds no water

It's not a case of conscious communal characteristics. It's a case of illiterate people, normally possessing low educational attainment, failing to understand that 'could of' is actually 'could have' or 'could've', simply because it sounds similar. It's called ignorance. It therefore goes unnoticed and thus becomes acceptable, along with a litany of other representations of illiteracy, within certain circles. Not a single book read. The lengths you are going to, to justify the illiteracy of yourself and others, is genuinely mind boggling. It's no surprise that you've ended up struggling to grasp basic English. You are clearly hard headed and have an inability to admit when you are wrong, and this is why you have ended up in this predicament. People like yourself who argue over and try to justify things that are so evidently wrong can never grow, and this is why your intellectual ceiling is that of a pig.

Trying to correlate the 'could of' vs 'could have' conundrum with linguistic anthropology has to be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read on this forum.

I'm no Shakespeare, but to claim that your 'knowledge' (made up nonsense and misunderstanding and thus misrepresentation of sociality) is greater than mine is a good joke. You'd be better off spending your time trying to dig out those two books that are gathering dust in your loft.

I had already addressed that before you had chipped in with your illiteracy, and decided to heed Twain's advice on that particular avenue, already knowing that you are a halfwit who never has anything interesting or substantial to contribute. Clearly you like to do a lot of talking and not much reading.

Nothing I have said to you has been untrue.
Let's recap:

1. Fury's resume does not compare to Lewis'
2. "of" as a regional speech variant of "have" in the present perfect is quite common and perfectly acceptable in speech.
3. Texting is closer to speech than the written word
4. Grammar of speech and grammar of the written language is not one for one
5. Mistakes in "grammar" when texting do not show a lack of literacy skills. And certainly wouldn't on a boxing forum reflect education level.

Though, I will argue your side for you: the problem with using "of" as a replacement of "have" is that whilst it may work one for one in the present perfect. There are issues when using the past perfect. There is no past tense inflection for "of".

Fair enough, though I didn't realise I had entered a conservative parish meeting of Christian grandmas.

Did you know your actual grandmother would have written "an university" not "a university"? This used to be the correct usage. However, now it is "a university" to better align with how people talk, reworking the grammar rule to that of pronunciation of the larger language community.

A bias toward Warren? What a load of ****. Talk sport only care about clicks and views or listens. They have any bias other that what generates the most of them. Matchroom are far more popular so they are bound to focus more on them.

 

It was pretty obvious in their content during the run up to Fury v Whyte.

It was one pro- queensberry puff piece after another for two to three weeks, exclusive Queensbury content, and interviews with Warren where he was being thrown a series of softball questions and no follow-ups. There was certainly a media relationship there.
