I am mental for sure. Some people use other words to describe me. But I would venture to say it's mental that Marciano made such a come back against an aging Walcott in the 13th. Rocky just like Lennox just needs to find that one bomb to turn the tide of the fight. I think its disingenuous to see this as a shut out in favor of Lennox. Same goes for in favor or Rocky.
I see Lewis get taken out by 1 bomb by Rahman, and I really can not help but wonder if Marciano can repeat that feat?
I love Rocky but really there are times when size is an issue and this is one of them. He doesn’t stand a chance.
Justin Fortune equals Rocky Marciano? Had he been bigger, this guy fortune would still be so out of his league here. The guy should not have landed a punch on Lewis. As small as he was, He still did. This was an appalling mismatch more because of the talent gulf than the size difference itself. Shame on you.
It's still evident from this footage stylistically that Lewis uppercuts would be devastating for Rocky, and also that Lewis is using A LOT of energy evading that swarming style. I don't think Lewis can remain elusive for 15 rounds.... if Rocky weathers the storm and tires Lewis out he can get the win in the later rounds. I think Lewis just won't have the gas in the tank.
Lennox would brutalize and stop Marciano. How would Tua vs. Marciano, Briggs vs. Marciano look? Marciano is a mid-range puncher. He reminds me of Arthur Abraham when I watch the tape, in size and power it is an apt comparison. Marciano is better surely than Abraham, but still, Lennox would probably uppercut him to a mess on the inside and destroy him on the outside. Would Lennox just sit there at mid range enough times for Marciano to detonate on him? And does Marciano hit like a Rahman/McCall?
Exactly. Had Marciano been bigger he would have still been out of his league against Lewis. And he would have been even slower and easier to hit.
Lewis sheer size is a nightmare for Rocky. The Lewis uppercut would be harder to land on Marciano than it was upon Justin Fortune because, whilst Fortune was a crouching crowding kind of fighter, he stood more square-on than Marciano who’s positioning was more awkward to predict. Lewis really would be lowering his guard and shortening distance to sweep his uppercuts low enough for Rocky. A deadly range for Lennox. This is why I feel Lewis would approach this assignment safety first like he did with Tua. Lewis never knocked anyone out in that mode. And he would not here either.
