Joshua takes mic after the fight and gives monologue

I think you can see his thought process as AJ dumps the belts then walks past him. He's looking quizzically and for a second I think he considers an intervention and then, being a master strategician, he recalls Napoleon's maxim, 'never interrupt an enemy when he is making a mistake' and he lets Joshua blunder on.

 

It's clear as day, he'd quickly added up his score after the 11th and realised he was gonna sign off a draw if he didn't give the last to Joshua. So he gave the last to Joshua...

 

I sort of like how AJ tried to pull it together at the end there despite his ego being so bruised. He easily could have just stormed back to his locker room as he was about to, but then he caught himself. Yeah, he made some excuses in his speech, but he did give Usyk a lot of recognition.

Cringe initial reaction, but credit for catching himself.

 

Well that's at least something, in the words that he actually said to Usyk.

It's just the arrogance and passive aggression in the way he said it.

Add in the rest of his hissy fit and it's the 'AJ party and he can cry if he wants too' meltdown and it's still a pi££ poor show all round for AJ.

The big thing is, AJ fought well again in the actual rematch and simply lost to the better man. No shame whatsoever.

 

Oh yeah what he did overall was bad but not as bad as I thought. At least he admits he lost fair and square and congratulated Usyk in a sort of odd way.

 

I don't think he thought he won. He knew he lost. But he got mad when it was announced to the crowd and millions watching it.

 

I don't disagree with this, but how much "not interrupting" do you do when someone is in your face, stealing your s***, and calling you a c***?

There's a fine line between wanting to come across as noble and being a complete p***y

 

He fumbled a bag that was likely worth a couple hundred million. I'm guessing that his new deal with DAZN had contracts contingent on him winning/losing against Usyk. Now he's locked into a deal with minimal fight purses. I'd be throwing a temper tantrum too. He blew it.

 

Maybe boxers should hire a guy to beat backstage when they lose a big fight. They could relieve stress that way.

 

Poor Usyk was trying to calm him down by explaining things with his broken English.
