The third fight did 600, the second did 850. A third fight nobody wanted did more than double you expect Joshua v Wilder to but apparently Joshua is the star.
I know for a fact it didn’t. The number was still very very good for a US PPV in this day and age. Second did do more than the third but not by that big a margin. Only one of the 3 fights broke even. Just like the Fury vs Whyte fight. Frank done £1m on that fight even. With doing a deal with fury. You only have to look at the bank balances of all the heavyweights in the world to see who the star is. It’s not hard. Only one is in the 9 figure range with a career 5 years shorter. not saying he’s the biggest fighter but biggest draw isn’t even close.
Joshua was better marketed because of looks, his clean cut image etc. Lynx not wanting a 6’9 bald gypsy on their adverts doesn’t mean Joshua is automatically a bigger star.
I’m talking fight purses only. The guy is a draw. not saying he isn’t right up against it now. But he’s a massive draw and has been promoted and managed perfectly. Difference between a corporate management approach and an illicit one
However one packages Dell Boy Joshua, the Box Office Mugths have been fleeced time and again. Legal yes, ethical no.
he manage to insult war-torn Ukraine, his Saudi paymasters & Islam without even trying sweaty infidel useless bodybuilder
i think UK govt travel advice needs to be update with the following info: when in Saudi Arabia DON'T pick up a microphone to announce your life story of being drug dealer
Brotha Uski is getting big crowds wherever he goes now. He's boxing's equivalent of khabib right now.
Yes there are more than 1M people in the U.S. from Ukrainian descent and they are a very proud people. Him getting a pop from the crowd during a Loma fight where surely a lot of Ukrainian Americans are surely in attendance isn’t an indication that Usyk is well known or popular in the U.S. Just that he showed up in a place where a lot of people who are inclined to cheer for him were gathered. I imagine it would be the same if Barry McGuigan or Mickey Ward showed up ringside at a Steve Collins fight.
