Is Fury simply pretending that the Usyk fight wouldn't absolutely define his legacy?

Winning that fight of course. If he doesn't take the fight does he really believe his own hype that fighting Deontay Wilder 3 times and a somewhat lackluster win over Klitschko followed by years of inactivity, are enough to put him on top of the all time Great Heavyweights?

Becoming the first unified HW champ in over 20 years over a very highly rated opponent would absolutely trump any of his past wins and would be a career capstone.

Fury knows when he KO's Usyk brutally that people will claim it was always a mismatch

    which it is.

Fury shouldn't have to beat anyone to be given GOAT status, he was born the GOAT when Zues put him on earth.

Fury's greatest achievement will be when he retires after beating Usyk then comes back at 42 years old ala Foreman to KO a bodybuilder pretending to be a fighter.

if he beats Usyk clearly in a one-sided fight

Usyk will be dismissed as a 35/36 year old blown-up cruiser with pillow fists
and as good as Usyk is, he is also all of the above

Is that why Fury is demanding 500 million within a week? He is looking to price himself out.

It will also let him push the fight back until about next June or so.
