2002 Tyson vs Lennox Lewis: 1 round fight

True but it was only an opinion. I find it highly unlikely for sure but not completely ridiculous. I've seen far worse on here hahaha

Tyson could well win. He'd start fave. Having said that Lewis did land some hammer blows in that first round when he let rip and it was hardly a one sided round that's for sure. I don't think Tyson's no certainty.

Legend has it McGrain thinks it would be a 10-10 round and if not that a 9-9!!! The foremr isn't hard to picture ether.

 

Hmmm I'm starting to rethink my opinion. I don't think Lewis would've fought the same way if he knew it was a one round fight.

 

Yeah if it's a one round fight you have to go with what you think you can win the round with. This equals more risks from Lewis. Perhaps Tyson would have caught him and won the round of the back of that. It's an interesting one.

Peak Tyson would be hard to beat in one rounders. His explosiveness out of the blocks was incredible. The vast majority would have had to look at survival first.

 

I have a hard time betting against Tyson for any 1 round HW fight. That said, Lewis was pretty impressive when he went balls out and you'd have to think he'd do it here.

 

That's how I see it. Lewis would have had a different mind set for one round. Once he landed a good right the end would draw near.

 

It's difficult to say. Tyson obviously won the first round in the real fight in 2002, but I'm pretty sure Lennox would hurt Tyson quite a bit seeing as Tyson was WAY past his peak by this point and by his own admission, was only still boxing for money at this point.

 

Easy knockout for lewis by 2002. I think their conditioning/strength etc was night and day when they did actually fight. Lewis was a guy that trained consistantly like a professional whereas mike was training like an amatuer at that point. Sporadic training regime and it showed in their fight. After lewis had a look in the first round....tyson was pretty much done for. Lewis proceeded to show the difference between a guy training like a pro to a guy training sporadically.

He was too strong for him. Too conditioned. Hit too hard etc. Testament to tysons chin that he lasted as long as he did that and lewis was fighting a bit too negatively incase he did get caught. But when he pushed on the condition of the two was one that looked allright to the other that not only looked conditioned but was.

I,d have fancied peak tyson to beat lewis as well. The tyson of 2002 had very little chance regardless of how many rounds the fight was.

 

First of all, great question!

Lennox's chin might fail him in this scenario and would definitely resort to holding. He did land a couple bombs to get Tyson's respect in the 1st but Mike came right back and stunned Lennox with a straight jab where LL lost his balance.

Thinking it's only a one round fight might give Tyson more confidence going in and might give Lennox more to worry about.

 

I'm going with Tyson he was basically a 1 round fighter back then.

 

Lewis ended the fight at the end of the 1st. He connected with an uppercut, and Tyson wanted no more

 

Fair, Tyson still won the 1st round.
