What Would Prevent Jerry Quarry, From Beating Marciano?

Fergy, I think that the thing that might prevent Jerry Quarry from defeating Rocky Marciano is the tenacity, aggressiveness, and punching power of The Rock. Quarry did have problems against aggressive fighters like Joe Frazier and George Chuvalo just to name a few. Rocky does cut just as Jerry did but the blood only motivated Marciano to seek a knockout. While Quarry was a fantastic counterpuncher, Marciano did have more willpower to get inside, despite having to take heavy artillery on his way into a fighter to get inside and batter a fighter's midsection mercilessly.

 

If Quarry had trouble with a aging Patterson, Rocky will blow Quarry out of the ring with his aggression.

 

Just not good enough

 

Unconscious?? Quarry had an excellent chin, was never even close to unconscious in his career and only ever down for the count once which was a very controversial ruling.

I think it's far likelier he's stopped on cuts.

Interesting thing is, Quarry was very confident he'd beat The Rock.

 

swag i always feel better when you like one of my posts. I do think that Rocky would literally punch Quarry out of the ring, Quarry won't be able to evade Rocky's aggression and when he gets on the ropes he won't be able to counter punch as effectively, I agree that a doctor stoppage, or even the towel would be thrown in to stop the fight. Rocky won't respect Quarry's power, he's eaten bigger bombs from stronger men and he'll chase Quarry all around the ring and t-off on him like a heavy bag.

 

Though Quarry is a lot better fighter than some on this post are giving credit
His biggest issue against Marciano would be his willingness to stand and trade. Skill wise Quarry may have been better than Marciano.
But he'd get drawn into a fire fight. This would be his downfall and eventual ko lost.

 

I loved Jerry Quarry, so much so that I even lost money on him once. He would lose to Rocky Marciano 10 out of 10 times. Jerry had a habit of finding a way to lose his big fights, and Rocky had a habit of finding a way to win his big fights. That, and I just think Rocky Marciano was a class or 2 above Jerry Quarry. (IMHO, of course.)
