I think it's safe to say Seamus has long been critical of Joshua. So your claim that he "said nothing about the guy who loses in those situations" is wrong.

No, of course that's not possible, but there is a reason why we have historians and experts spending most of theirs career studying boxing in order to create real attempts to rank fighters from different ages.
They are the best available sources when it comes to this field.

Boxing historian bert sugar "he was dedicated, i don't think anybody ever worked harder than Rocky".

Boxing trainer don turner's answer to the claim that Marciano was the most conditioned HW in history "he was unbelievable, 8 months in training camp..."

Hall of fame trainer charley goldman once said to Marciano "i've been in this boxing business fifty years and i've never seen anyone like you yet. Work. Work. Work. Train. Train. Train. Sometimes, i suspect you're not even human".

Red smith with a sportswriting career that spanned over five decades said "“Rocky couldn't box like [Gene] Tunney, and probably couldn't hit like [Joe] Louis, but in one respect he had no challenger. He was the toughest, strongest, most completely dedicated fighter who ever wore gloves"

Manny steward said Marciano's training routine was unbelievable and so on...

At risk of patting myself on the back, that's the finest collection of prose this site has witnessed in many a day.

I’m a fan of Joshua so I can’t agree. But I will concede you’re true to your word

You forgot that Lewis was also in woeful shape and hadn't acclimatized, so there's that and it's well documented. Rocky isn't fighting that version of Lewis best for best not that i think it would matter.

The thought that Rocky is gong to finish the best version of Lewis with a single right hand is, quite frankly, ridiculous.

We'd have a 240+ pound monstrous punching guy with half a foot of height advantage and almost a foot and a half of reach. Both Rahman and Mr McCall were around 50 pounds heavier than The Rock and had a foot of reach on him not to mention plenty of height.

It's chalk and cheese, completely different matchups, an entirely different world. But Lewis better be careful, not Rocky.

Yeah Lewis is going to look down at Rocky and be plagued by visions of Rahman and McCall.

I don’t see why not. Lewis made a big boo boo with both those guys. So Twice it happened. Lennox would be far better off not taking any chances whatsoever. He can skate to a 12 round points win like he did with Tua. …So long as Rocky doesn’t hit him on the choppers.

This is the most sensible thing I've read on this thread. Relying on the Rahman and McCall fights is goofy unless the question is "Lennox at his worst vs. Rocky at his best -- who wins?"

I presume the question was best-vs-best, in which case anything other than a clear Lewis victory is frankly preposterous. Sheer lunacy.

For all the "but Usyk whupped Joshua" crowd, it would not be Lewis' sheer size that would count but the fact that he USED his size. Despite being a huge man, Joshua has never fought like one.

On stubby guys Lewis used his jab like a spear out of a phalanx -- paw, paw, control the distance, BAM, paw, paw, BAM. At shorter range Rocky would need every bit of that conditioning having a man 65 lbs heavier and seven inches taller clinching and leaning on him. All things that big men use to make themselves bigger against smaller men but that Anthony Joshua never did.

I keep seeing things about Rocky's right hand that seem to forget Lewis's right hand. More importantly, Lewis at his best patiently put his man in position so that he could land his right hand with maximum effect. Position before submission. With his extreme range advantage he would be even better able to do this whereas Marciano would be limited to lunging Hail Marys all night. And you all know it.

One of the greatest lil troll posts i have ever seen. He can skate to a 12 round points win against a guy 185 pounds and half his dimensions.......despite being deep in the conversation for having the greatest right hand in heavyweight history which he threw both under and over. A guy who was plenty comfortable punching down with the right hand.

    That was quality chok.
