If you could change just ONE event in boxing history what would it be?

    No deaths or severe injuries.

One world champ per weight class.
    This isn’t a superhero movie with 27 different worlds…

GGG doesn’t take the rematch with Canelo after he popped for drugs.
He would have been known as the guy who beat a drug cheat and got ripped off instead of the guy who couldn’t beat Canelo in 3 fights. He chose the money, which I really don’t blame him for.

Hagler wins the decision against SRL.
Leonard would have still gotten huge props for giving Hagler fits after 4 years out of the ring.
Hagler gets the win against a guy who screwed him over multiple times.
Both their legacies remain untarnished and Hagler doesn’t go completely off the rails leading to drink, drugs and divorce…

I'd like Turpin to win his rematch with Robinson (which he nearly did anyway) to see whether it creates a parallel universe where Turpin made a few more successful defences of the middleweight title and his life didn't fall apart later.

But given that Turpin spent the money he earned almost straight away, I think it was almost inevitable that, whatever happened in the ring, he would find himself in a similar personal predicament anyway.

Tyson vs Holy 2 ends without DQ. This soured a lot of people on boxing which (though I have no evidence) was more impactful than most imagine

Bowe just doesn't dump the WBC title in the trash, he dumps all of them. Maybe that helps some things along the way. Or better yet, Tyson does it after unifying or beating Spinks

Smacking Mike Tyson to his senses so doesn't do that infamous crime that took him out of his prime years never to be the same fighter again, so he goes on to beat Holyfield, Lewis, Bowe, etc.. while retaining all of the offensive and defensive prowess he had at the time, least compared to the post prison Tyson who clearly lost a step in speed, accuracy, and even dedication.

I imagine he is talking about Hagler running for cover instead of celebrating after beating Minter for the title.
He was too busy trying to avoid bottles being flung by the crowd…

Trinidad-Vargas. I feel that if Tito didnt go below the belt numerous times to recover, Vargas would have been alot fresher going down the stretch and could have potentially pulled off the upset.

To extend on your post, the thing I would change would be Cus living another fifteen years so that Mike had that solid guidance and support. Would it have turned out any differently with Cus around? Who knows.

Damn imagine if we would have got Holyfield-Tyson in 1991? What a fight that would have been, probably better than their fight in 1996.
