His power looked decent against complete puddings but it is grossly overrated as well with him failing to put a serious dent in Takam, Paint Dry Parker, Spud Ruiz twice and Usyk twice. Dell Boy Joshua is what we have here and the world knows it.
Spot on. Big Josh's power has been horribly overrated by the matchroom spin machine. Along with his Brain, Chin, Heart and Gastank. And his all important REZUMAYYYY KOOGS!!!!
True, think all the early knockouts gave him the false confidence he can ko anybody, when that stopped happening there hasn't really been a plan b,not a joshua hater but think his team haven't helped him by being yes men rather than telling the truth
As soon as he got chinned by Klitschko something disappeared from him. Even more so since Ruiz 1. Lost that finishing instinct once he smells blood as he’s afraid of getting caught.
I have exactly the same thought as you and that is also why I think Matchroom should have patience and give AJ time to recover.
Think the biggest issue is he believed his own hype, once the knockouts stopped he was lost Now he's in no man's land,if he takes an easy fight he'll get stick but if he takes a live opponent there's a very good chance he ain't winning
Completely agree, in the Klitschko fight he did show heart and went beyond exhaustion to dig a victory out from the jaws of defeat but I think he doesn't want to go back to that place. Against Ruiz he no longer had that in him and I do agree that the surprise he got in that first fight has now scared him from exerting himself 100% to go for a finish because his gas tank seems to hit the floor after a short burst of energy for a few minutes and I think most young fresh world level fighters can survive one of those bursts from Joshua. Just look at how gassed he was in round 10 vs Usyk after a burst in round 9.
Any genuine live Heavyweight contender will take him out - does not matter if he takes 3 months off or 3 years there is a huge KO waiting with his name on it. Earn knows and will stick to old men and puddings from now onwards until the cash out fight probably with Fury. Personally think he should retire as the humiliation will kill him.
If I was his team I would want to get his confidence up and work on things. I would get him to fight Zhang in China. In my opinion he needs to change his coaching team. He needs a proven coach of heavyweights and only the one coach. Think there are options here for him that would be a good fit, Mark Tibbs, Billy Nelson and Tony Sims. I would have said Peter Fury but not sure if he would want to (his recent takes on AJ and his coaches is spot on.)
His buble would have been burst there and then if old Wlad had not went gun shy, as he never pulled the trigger when he had a great opportunity to finish it.
I'm sure Joshua has seen enough of him, and Wallin's approach is not really one of surprises. But, if he underestimates Wallin like Fury did, then yes it could prove dangerous. Yes, Wallin was a sparring partner when Joshua was preparing for Martin. Joshua also fought Wallin in the amateurs.
I watched their amateur fight Joshua looked gassed like he was struggling at the end of 3 rounds. I think he'd be in for a surprise vs Wallin win or lose.
Whoever Joshua fights, the press conference should be pure gold, his opponent will be able to bring up the most embarrassing moment in all of sporting history - when Big Baby AJ threw the belts out of the ring and gave that speech. Embarrassed by a fatty in Madison Square Garden and then embarrassed himself in an unforgettable and unforgivable manner. If I was his opponent I'd play the entire meltdown during the ringwalk.
