Lou di Bella won the purse bids for this one, and it’s going on BT sport on a warren show? Will Eddie Hearns’ ego allow this one to go ahead on a queensberry show or is he going to throw his toys out of the pram and snide the fight off completely? this is my issue with when promoters get in the way of fights from happening to the detriment of the sport. Ben shalom shalom is at least prepared to work with warren (Joyce v Parker) and warren has already worked with the Americans for years fcking Hearns junior and his immature “I call him Shirley winkle koogs” what kind of a grown up man behaves like that?
Maybe Buatsi should join Boxxer if he wants the promoter he's signed to win his purse bids, unfortunately Matchroom don't seem to have much money in the bank these days.
Disappointing fight but it could be worse. I actually see this as a step back from the Richards fight which was a grueling 12 round fight against a tough, hungry LHW in his prime. The one to make as far as in house fights go is obvious- Buatsi vs Smith which is mouth watering as far as domestic fights go but we all know it does not happen. At the moment it makes even more sense as Bivol is busy and Beterbiev injured and out for some time. Buatsi's whole career has been 1 step forwards 2 or 3 steps back. Every time he gets a good win and builds some momentum (e.g. Bolotniks, Richards) he either gets injured, a fight cannot go ahead or noting seems to happen for 9-10 months so he has had huge gaps in his activity despite not yet being a champion or at that sort of level or status at all. A shame as I think he is a special talent and the best of the Matchroom fighters together with Joe Cordina purely in terms of ability. Might not be a popular opinion but I would pick him to beat Yarde (confidently) and give him every chance against Bivol and a dangerous and brilliant but ageing Beterbiev.
Hearn on IFL saying the only reason Warren wants this fight is because he’s ran out of his own fighters and Buatsi v Pascal shouldn’t be happening anyway it should be Buatsi v Yarde ffs. Buatsi v Bivol was the fight to make last week.
Financially things are going excellent for Eddie Hearn / Matchroom Boxing. In fact, the company has never made so much money since they teamed up with DAZN.
Maybe but he’s not spending it on boxing is he ? He was planning 60 shows worldwide in 2022. How many has he done ? Usyk AJ 2 doesn’t count, that was on Sky.
You're right. The majority of the money from DAZN ends up in Eddie Hearn's wallet. To be fair, Eddie Hearn promised 50 shows world wide in 2022 but there is still a long way to go...
Noticed that as soon as Hearn lost the purse bids all the Matchroom bummers on Twitter (Chris Lloyd, that Ade bloke etc) who were previously saying how good a fight Buatsi v Pascal was suddenly don't want to see it anymore and they'd rather see Buatsi v Yarde
