If Rocky fights today he fights at LHW. That's what happens. He doesn't fight at HW (or SHW if you like) unless he wants to gain a load of useless bulk and get flattened by some journeyman because he can barely move his arms. I doubt he even fights at CW (old school HW) since he'd still be outsized by a good 20/25 lbs, which would be a foolish career decision from a purely wear and tear POV.

In his book about Marciano called: "Unbeaten"...writer Mike Stanton says: "Rocky had a style that was impervious to pain. He had an indomitable heart that enabled him to withstand some savage beatings! He had a punch that was like a "near death" experience! He went into the ring like a factory worker punching the time clock and started pounding the wall in front of him until it crumbled!" Yeah,...I can see how a guy with a left jab could beat a fighter like Marciano! "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Fair enough, most boxers got KO`d if they caught flush I suppose.

Wouldn't take that long for a lhw/basic fighter like rock to lose he loses 1st round

This is a fight I can predict the outcome of with almost complete confidence. Marciano has zero advantages over Lewis. He just couldn’t win this.

    Ummmmm cool.
But do not forget that anybody can be beaten on any given night, so the claim that listening to a pundit giving his predictions is a good way to see ig he really knows his boxing or not isn't 100% true.
    I've never said otherwise.

Anybody can be beat on any night if the person that's fighting has any sort of chance
rock or anybody fighting from that long ago has 0 chance to even land hardly on lennox or people he fought...

I'm not saying they have to get it right every time. I'm saying that someone who provides detailed breakdowns and gets it right more often than not (especially with those high profile hard to predict fights) is demonstrating a greater understanding of the sport than someone who just offers the same basic safest option opinions. Many boxing trainers, pundits and so-called scholars of the game often opt for the latter option, which is why I don't have the greatest respect for their opinions on hypothetical fights, especially when their opinions echo the same tone as their actual predictions.

If you were blessed with being tall and have ever had to fight a guy that was good at fighting short, you know that being tall isn't all that it is cracked up to be. It is hard to hit a guy like that. So much of what you have to do to hit him- jabbing down, spreading your legs, etc..- shortens your reach and makes you easier to hit. For example, when you jab down, you lean into a right hand over your jab.
But Lennox would be 50 pounds heavier than Marciano. When he put himself in that position, he would lean on him and push him down. Any time that Marciano got close he would push him down and wrestle him.
There was somebody that called Marciano a basic fighter. Idiot.
Dundee didn't think so. And I have no doubt in my mind that Charley Goldman knew a little more about boxing than any internet poster. Even a "hardcore."
