Peak Lennox Lewis V Peak Tyson Fury

I would have a lot of confidence in Lewis for a clear UD - but a stoppage/KO still highly possible, if Fury pushes the right (or wrong for him) buttons.

The thing I like about Lewis is that he was far technically superior but if it got down and dirty, Lennox had the mongrel in him (ATG quality) to end it sooner than even he planned for.

Lewis shifts from trying to box - fury has a slightly longer reach- to fiercely battling the gypsy king inside. Lewis chops him to pieces, and the fight is stopped, with Lewis winning by TKO on cuts.

 

The most probable outcome for me is a unanimous decision for Lennox Lewis over 12 rounds Tyson Fury has a durable enough chin to stay in the fight but Lennox out jabs Fury with his speed although if he isn't careful could be suspectable to Fury's body attacks. If Lennox doesn't stay out of the way its game over. Also if Fury goes into autopilot and gets lackadaisical or starts attempting to show boat he's vulnerable. I think it's more than likely a cagey tentative points victory for Lewis.

 

Lewis has no advantages over Fury besides punching power and Fury is more dangerous with one punch to Lewis than Lewis is to Fury.

If ya gonna be starting new divisions at the upper end of the weights you are going to have to either get choks permission or wait for the amateur game to implement them thanks very much.

 

Lewis was better in most areas. Tricky first 6 but Lewis ends up dropping him a few times and ref stops it.

All respect but I don't see why not. Lewis wasn't quite the one shot artist Wilder is but his right when landing flush was easily the equal of Tyson and Bowe's. Big differences are

a) Lewis knew far better how to set up his right hand than Wilder did. Wilder tended to be a bit like Shavers and hail mary a lot of shots

b) Lewis was at least twice the finisher Wilder ever was.

Lewis knocks Fury down, Fury gets mowed over. If he gets up.

 

Fury never hit as hard as either McCall or Rahman. No.

 

Yeah that part was pretty ridiculous.

 

Lennox Lewis is IMO the originator of the "modern super heavyweight" (last fight 256.5 lbs).
So Fury's 270-280 lbs (of which a significant percentage is body fat) would not have the same impact as Wilder.
In the clinch, Lewis would overpower Fury, and the only significant advantage is Fury's chin.
Lennox Lewis is an expert in both ranged and inside combat.
Fury has never fought a boxer of anywhere near the quality of peak Lennox Lewis.
Fury's version of "Wilder 2" would lose to peak Lennox Lewis.

Lets not forget Riddick Bowe tho who was the same height as Lewis and weighed within a pound of him comparative to his last two fights vs Holyfield vs Lewis x 2.

 

I love Fury for his courage and grit but to compare him to Lennox is absurd .. Fury has twice defeated Wilder and beat an antiquated Klitschko ... not enough for me to consider him in that league ... let;'s see how Fury does against Usky ..

 

You also have to remember this is same guy who made troll posts on GF forum, saying that Usyk is better than Lewis and Fury had a better resume than Lewis. So you have to take what he says with a pinch of salt.

 

I'd go with Lennox by unanimous decision. But when the 300-400 pound Heavyweight Champions come along in a few years, they'll both be considered too small to compete.
