Andy Ruiz Jr vs Luis Ortiz - Prediction and discussion

Ruiz 268lbs!

 

Martin has solid power. Not devastating but he can crack. He hits harder than Ruiz.

 

Ruiz is the same weight as AJ 1. I think this is his best weight. But he definitely composite some of his body. He lost some weight, gained some muscle. Still looks terrible though.
I really have hard time understanding how this guys managed to be that fat.

 

I'm thinking Ruiz can win with superior handspeed,think he cracks hard enough to hurt Ortiz and the handspeed to follow up, but seeing Ruiz hurt against old nips wasn't a good look for him... intriguing fight

 

Yeah, but some of that extra weight looks like it's put to good use (i.e. muscle). Might work against him to be carrying it around in the later rounds...but Ortiz will have stamina problems of his own.

 

I'm finding this a hard fight to predict.

Ortiz's weakness is clearly his stamina. Landing the odd big shot on Ortiz doesn't really work (unless you are Wilder). You want to drain his gas tank.

Case in point: Charles Martin dropped Ortiz with hard shots twice, but he wasn't really making Ortiz move around (which King Kong hates) nor was he doing much high quality work. So he was caught out by a relatively-fresh Ortiz in Round 6.

Ruiz Jr needs to be touching Ortiz constantly (like Christian Hammer did when the two fought in 2019) in the early rounds, try to move him around, and ensure Ortiz gets cracked any time he tries to take the wraps off that huge straight left of his. Not easy, because Ortiz out-ranges Andy by quite a lot.

If he does all this, Ruiz should be able to take over in the 2nd half of the fight.
