Not to say Spencer is bad, but you can tell he's just gonna be inflicted on us for years whether we like it or not.

 

Yeah the kid doesn't deserve to have all that expectation put on him so early when he's so raw still, his team are doing him a disservice by doing that. He's developing well enough as it is and he's still 22 which is really young so he can go places if he keeps it up. Seems a decent guy too, he'll probably end up having a decent career.

But despite the lines we were fed by the media leading up to this fight, no serious boxing fan had Salgado on their list of up-and-comers in this division.

 

If Ruiz wins tonight, surely he is #4 in the division in the mind of all

He's pretty good, you can expect him to at least be a notable contender if not a champion at some point. He's not going to be anything great though, that's just the truth.

 

Salgado was a good opponent for him. He's a fringe contender himself, no creampuff by any means, but he's limited enough that he's not going to beat anyone who's not a pretender.

 

Agreed. Hey - at the end of the day it's junior middleweight - and if 40+ year-old fighters like Cornelius Bundrage and Ishe Smith can suddently find themselves wearing major straps...Spencer could, too.
