Agreed, after Ruiz dropped Ortiz he came in and Grandpa snapped his head back with a big left which kicked Ruiz's transmission into neutral for several rounds after that, he was seriously leery of getting nailed again and this fight turned into a snooze fest. Right now if either are top 10 fighters it's an indictment of the division's depth.

    113-112 for Ruiz.

Ruiz barely won. In fact, this might be one of those rare cases where the win wasn't beneficial. Winning wasn't good enough. He should have smoked Ortiz. He needed to make a statement. He didn't.

If Wilder still wants a body on his record, give him Ruiz. He'll send Ruiz straight to the morgue.

That is true but Ortiz did very little himself.

113-112 Ruiz, but that's giving him that second knockdown in round two, which wasn't particularly convincing.

True but atleast Ortiz was throwing jabs and landing them, Ruiz was just following Ortiz around the ring not doing anything. Anytime Ruiz opened up he had Ortiz in trouble, but he just seemed content to just fight within himself and be lazy.

113-112 Ruiz. The knockdowns were the difference.

114-111 because of the 3 KDs.

I watched it live. Even without knockowns, Ruiz won this fight.

Scored it 113-112 Ortiz. Aside from the 3 knockdowns by AR, he was inactive in rounds 3 thru 6 to even my card halfway. AR get the 10-8 in round 7 and the last 5 rounds I scored 3 outta those 5 for Ortiz. I just thought Ortiz got the better of the exchanges and more telling shots. Close fight regardless.

I finally got around to watching this in its entirety: I had 114-111 Ortiz

Imo, Ruiz only clearly won round 11 outside of the KD rounds. There were only 1 or 2 other rounds I could give to Ruiz, so I'm okay with 113-112 either way.

Ortiz is clearly shot to pieces, but somehow Ruiz looked even worse in there. Inactivity (i.e. not throwing punches) was why Ruiz lost against Parker in New Zealand, he should have learnt his lesson by now, but again vs Ortiz he just stood in front of his opponent for the majority of the fight, barely even bothering to throw out a jab.

Anthony Joshua's resume keeps ageing worse and worse...
