I don't know exactly what you mean by "Things go wrong" but dud superfights like DLH vs Trinidad and May vs Pac defintely come to mind, those always gets the "boxing sucks" crowd going.

Agree, but I think Butler was just too crazy to be a pro fighter.

Most high level boxers don’t retire with enough to indefinitely stop working.

Part of the decision to be a pro boxer has to with life options, hence the class disparity and increasing presence of boxers from countries with lower living standards than the US. It’s not a totally even playing field.

It's a choice either way, both to join and to stay.

Yeah it was bad at the time, but many other fighters seem to get forgotten, the one that has always stuck with me (They all do don't get me wrong) is Johnny Owen in his tragic fight with Lupe Pintor, Johnny was knocked out in round 12, and the chaos that followed was absolutely diabolical, he left the ring on a stretcher and Pintors fans were screaming abuse at him, some even throwing cups of urine on him as he passed them, he never recovered from his injury and passed away at the young age of 24, he does have a statue of him in his hometown of Merthyr South Wales, and more should be done to ensure they are never forgotten.

Never mind he came in as a welterweight and totally ignored the scales.

I’m going to assume you didn’t show a ton of promise coming out of a boxing family in a place like Ukraine or Cuba, and I think you should listen to what they say about it.

I'm thinking of a fight where the mistake might have made the fight better: frank cappuccino let the 9th round go on. He freakin called Arturo "Arthur" lol couldn't pronounce his name properly lol! Thank god the tenth round started, albeit late...because it gave Gatti a chance to recuperate a bit longer. To much of his chagrin, Micky ward was not "turned on " for that last round, he thought the fight was over, hence forth he lost the last round cause of that. But essentially it was a great victory for the sport: Gatti and ward made killer paydays, and since mick won the first one, he kept his promise "to retire if he lost" epic stuff. And to add a little crush to the lunch, Frank c the referee said "I know how to ref a effin fight!" Like his integrity was being damaged lol.

That was really bad, the Johnny Owen story. Can't read about him with out feeling sad as well as angry how they reacted to him leaving the stadium.
