Who were some unbeaten fighters with a very promising looking career, whether as champion or as an up-and-coming prospect, that ended up leaving the sport early due to injuries, personal issues, or death?

Ike Ibeabuchi is an obvious one. Who else?

Baby Joe Mesi. Not saying he was going to be a world champion at the time, but he was very good boxer/puncher and he made you want to see him again each time he stepped in the ring.

Well he wasn't undefeated but I thought at age 30, Kelly Pavlik retired too early.

Anyone remember Pier Olivier Cote? That guy looked like an exciting prospect, murderous puncher. Sucks that he had an illness that prevented him from going further in boxing.

Joe Calzaghe had a few more good years in him at 175.

    Not undefeated, but...

Sutan Ibragimov could have gone on to be in some good heavyweights scraps, or he could have gone down to cruiser.

Lamar "Kidfire" Parks was in the rebound from a loss to Reggie Johnson when he got the AIDs.

Dave Tiberi should have had a cash-pout rematch with James Toney.

Joe retired at age 36. Better a year or two too early than too late.

He left at the right time imo. I mean who was he going to fight Chad Dawson? Nah
