    Agreed. I hate it when boxers hang on too long. He had a chance to get out with all of his marbles intact , and he did. He was past his best and retired at the right time.

    Whatever he did outside the ring, no matter how terrible doesn't change the fact that he was an incredible fighter with freakish power who's career ended early and he may have gone on to become a legend of the sport. Valero is a very, very suitable post for this thread.

    Nicholas Walters.. retired after his first loss, it's a shame that because people forget now how highly regarded he was at the time

    I remember 10 years ago Omar Henry had a lot of hype back then, looked like Miguel Cotto mixed with Mike Tyson. Very sad that he passed away at such a young age.

    I remember a heavy named "Taz Titan" who got a fair bit of buzz after his debut on USA Network's Tuesday Night Fights and then got injured and retired immediately after. First person I thought of.

    Guys give Calzaghe props for retiring at 36 say he retired at the right time Yet castigate Lennox Lewis for retiring when he had no legitimate contenders
